Hi.
Some time ago my a1200 was mounted on a tower but some months ago its dekstop again, my scsi kit dont fit quite well on the trapdoor, accel seems a bit forded... blizzard + scsi kit fit well without any fix on the plastic? Silly question but i want to know.
-
I had this setup, the SCSI kit fits well but close to the Keyboard so I insulated the back of the keyboard.
My Blizzard 1260 had an angled simm socket so I had to leave the trapdoor off and raise the A1200 but other then that the card was a good fit.
With that all said though I downgraded it to a Bliz1230 because all I do on that system is play WHDLoad games since I have a PPC/060 a1200 Tower :afro:

My blizzard have a 90 angle simm socket and i can close the trapdoor but i need the scsi kin fot the extra simm, but i see some pics on a1k.org (its in germam but toons of pics) of many a1200 desktop with the scsi kit but i cant see if plastic is sanded or something, thanks.

Im back with this thread... sorry heh
After mounted the scsi kit on the blizzard 060, added the 64mb simm, keyboard touch a little the simm!!. Thats normal or dangerous?
Thanks.

Pretty common with angle mounted SIMMs on accelerators. If any of the metal of the components on the SIMM are at risk of hitting the keyboard metal, you'd probably want to insulate with electrical tape or something.
-
Thanks for you answer.
Yes, i know the electrical isuues, these are "easy" to fix, my worry come by the torsion or the weigth of keyboard with the a1200 cover.
-
Gotcha. If it's not pressing it down more than a couple of millimeters, I don't think I'd worry about it too much but I've never had that particular setup in any of my machines.
I have seen A2000 accelerators that were installed for years, they got warped due to the power supply cables pushing them ~0.5" (or more) over near the end of the card.

Well, this is the same scsi kit and the same 64mb simm ram (if anyone have this setup and give opinion)
This picture is not mine, its from a user of a1k.org.

That looks the same as mine with 256mb RAM in the desktop A1200 case. I have not modified the case and have had no problems.

What about the distance between keyboard and simm on the scsi kit?

I haven't measured it, but it is not touching. Perhaps my simm's are not as tall as yours.

Its exactly tall as the one in the photo.
Like this: (another foto from the same user from a1k.org)

As stated in my previous post I insulated the back of my keyboard to be sure, you wouldn't want to short out the card/ram!
Mine is pretty close/almost touching with medium size simm.

Here is mine:

Found one showing where I insulated as well, this was with larger Simm and Blizzard 1230, but still the same SCSI Kit.

Thanks for your answer.
I see your latest answer about isulating the keyboard... my explanations arent good, keyboard rest on the upper part of simm and the a1200 cover with all screws push a little the keyboard, this is the reason for the torsion worry.
All your simms uses low profile chips (look my posted pictures) maybe thats the problem.
