I picked up a very nice Mac G4 Model M5183 (Sawtooth I believe). It appears to be stock.
If it won't run MorphOS natively, would it be worth/feasible to upgrade it where it can run MorphOS?
This'll give me something to do while I try to figure out why my Minimig died!

Head to http://www.morphos-team.net/ for the ISO.

Good news, I was only checking earlier today for an update :)
Funny thing though...the Features pages says "new Sputnic with extensive Java support", however there is no trace of Sputnic at all on the ISO/CD? Quite odd...

It was replaced by OWB, which is much more mature browser.
That part of the web page is from MorphOS 2.0 era. I'll talk about updating it, but doing that would require ton of changes and I don't think anyone would feel particularly energetic about that right now :-)

The features page specifically mentions the following: "Below you will find an extensive list about the work that went into MorphOS 2.0."
Obviously, there are differences between MorphOS 2.6 and MorphOS 2.0. If you would like to know what was changed between these two OS versions, feel free to read all the release notes which are linked to from the features page.

Ah ok, thanks guys :)
I'm already using OWB 1.9 so everything is cool.
Obviously I have misinterpreted what was written.

It's not static, is it?

@Karlos
It is, but only relates to the 2.0 release.
Supplemental release notes are linked-to at the top of the release-notes page (http://www.morphos-team.net/releasenotes-2.0.html).

I tried MorphOS 2.6 on my G4 "Digital Audio" 533 and the install CD boot process hangs at the Open Firmware screen with an error. The same CD boots fine on my Mini. Anyone have any ideas? I already have it reg'ed for the Mini and it flies.
I always wanted a MDD and I'll probably buy one for MOS but I wanted to test it on what I already have first.
Thanks - Jeff

I don't mind updating it for you if you want, I'm off work atm and bored out of my mind! :)

It appears you ran into a known issue with the 7410 G4 model. The next MorphOS update should address this issue.

I thought my Quicksilver was hanging too. I got the Openfirm, Console failed messages (followed by some CPU and Memory spec).
After brainstorming this, I started trying different DVD drives. The third drive I tried load this OS correctly (ewho knows why).
Keep trying! This is one cool OS. Very responsive. For some reason it feels faster than Windows on my 3.0 Ghz Dual core machine.
Absolutely ther best PPC OS for the Amiga community.
