Title: A600 serial data transfer
Post by: alexandrohipolito on October 08, 2010, 07:05:50 AM
It's possible receive data across serial cable on my a600? I have cable, but I have just "install disk" of the Workbench 2.05. What can I do to view and change serial port configuration? What command or script I can use to put amiga serial port in open state for receive data?

When I turn on A600 what configuration default of serial port? On this configuration default A600 can receive data? Or I need change something?

When you turn it on, it won't really do anything with the serial port. You need a terminal program, there are plenty on AmiNet, but nothing on the Install Disk will be able to send or receive anything.

I'm pretty sure there was enough on the Workbench disk to bootstrap a file transfer from a PC.

You can use an Arexx script like described here (german): http://adfsender.stoeggl.com/adfsenderterminal/methods_de.html#C

Save yourself a lot of hassle and buy a PCMCIA Compact Flash thingy , or else a PCMCIA Network card. They go very very cheap. Serial Transfer rates are horribly slow, i used to use serial transfers on my A500 about 15 years ago.

Another vote for the compact flash option. Its far far easier

I have only Install Disk, on this disk I don't have "Prefs/Serial"

What are you trying to transfer from? That was never clearly stated.
