I was browsing Amigakit's site and I cannot find any NOS A1200s... so I was wondering if they are gone for good!
Would be a sad day indeed.
-
I just bought one yesterday: http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=40_85&products_id=305

..but that one is
refurbished.
They were supposed to be out of NOS months ago.
-
The link is for refurb units not NOS.
-
So they wont be coming back :(
-
I replied too quickly without fully reading the initial post properly - yep the one I ordered is refurbished not new old stock.

Don't be surprised if a handful turn up over the years. I was once a regular on rec.games.video.classic, and every so often some NOS would surface from the strangest places. One time somebody found a whole cache of old consoles, new in box, behind a wall in their shop. It turned out that back in the 80s it had been one of those computer boutique kind of stores and for some reason the owner built a section of wall over the back part of a storeroom, and left some stock in there.
What I can't understand about today's Amiga community is the reliance on the few remaining dealers. I can't recall the last time I went to a flea market and didn't find at least a couple of Amiga items, and the thrift stores are also a good source. You might not find what you want right away, but when you do find something it's generally extremely cheap.

There's always a market for "I need it now and I want it guaranteed."
Personally, I'm more than happy with Craigslist and eBay for the old items, but that's another place where dealers come in, new stuff, as little of it as there may be. Someone's gotta sell the Indivisions and the SAMs!

You never know what you might come across. I just bought this http://amigaworld.net/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=674
from someone in Canada and it had never been used.

Yeah, I was on this Atari forum, and a week or so ago someone noticed that all of a sudden, a Bunch of Compumate keyboard type things for the Atari 2600 started showing up on e-bay, and those used to be pretty rare.
Complete in box.
Turns out someone came across a warehouse in South America full of them (and some other stuff)...
So, you never know...

The dealers do offer a few benefits:
You are less likely to be screwed
They can refurbish the equipment if its outside the buyers capabilities.
I got my current miggy off ebay and another off craigslist, but I'd be tempted to get a refurbished one from amigakit as a backup

Our Refurb A1200s have white new cases and keyboards, very high quality fully packaged/boxed as shown below.
All systems are fully quality tested and have warranty. You can be assured that they will not have any capacitor leakage and other such problems. No A1200s from Ebay will be of the same standard at our systems: read reviews from our customers (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_reviews.php?cPath=40_85&products_id=305)

Out of curiosity, when you guys refurbish the machines, do you replace the caps as well?
-
Yes, when Capacitors need to be replaced, we will replace them.
