Title: GVP JAWS II - 68030 but no RAM
Post by: Megamig on September 29, 2010, 01:08:02 AM
I have recently purchased a GVP JAWS II Rev.3 off ebay. Although I can get the card to switch between 020 and 030 modes (via jumper) I have tried almost ever jumper combination and SIMM slot and cannot get the card to recognise the 16 MB GVP-M SIMM that was included with the card. :(

Will the board still recognise the 16mb RAM if the RTC battery chip thingy is removed and there is no FPU (Just the 030)?

If anyone actually has the manual for this accelerator in PDF format can they please post it.. Using anything like this without proper labelled jumpers is like driving blinded... Cheers!

jumper settings
J3 -   SIMM size: ON - 16 MB SIMM used, OFF - no 16 MB SIMM
J5 -   ROM: ON - enable
J6 -   SCSI: ON - enable
J1, J2, J4, J7
OFF      CN5
1-2
- reserved

From the Amiga Hardware database.
Note also that the SIMM should be in slot one, in the case of mixed SIMM sizes the largest of them should be in slot one.
I don't have a manual but I hope this helps. :)
