Hi All,
I've just got my A1200 online using the cnet device. All appears well at the command line / network level - I can ping local & internet machines, resolve DNS etc.
However, two issues:-
1) When AmiTCP (version 4 demo) starts, it leaves a CLI open. This is an annoyance (I have to resize this and move it out the way of Workbench). I assume this is because AmiTCP doesn't fully detach from the CLI? How can I fix this?
2) iBrowse - many websites (http://www.amiga.org, http://www.amigaworld.net, http://www.google.com) return a 403 Forbidden - You don't have permission to access / on this server. This is incredibly confusing as other random sites (touch.facebook.com, my own websites etc) work fine. I don't expect these to work (CSS etc) but "you don't have permission" is a new one on me.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Steve
Edit: Also, related question - can anyone recommend an ssh client (v2) that doesn't require a million other components installed?

I would like to help, but i dont use AmiTCP.. I only use Miami and MiamiDX.. You can get from Aminet.
Definitely are something wrong with the TCP/IP config, becouse thats error showing in Ibrowse its not normal...
Anyway, i am sure anybody here will help you to config the AmiTCP.
The thing is you are close to put you Amiga on line!
Regards

I don't think it's the underlying TCP/IP setup - as at that level everything seems fine.
iBrowse indicates it's the servers which are producing the 403 error. Most weird.
I hope others have some ideas today ... I'm *almost* there :)

The only way I could imagine how TCP/IP settings could cause a web server to produce a 403 error is that you come in with a suspicious IP address. Which IP address did you assign to your Amiga? IP addresses in your home network should be in the form 192.168.x.y where x is the same for all computers at your home and the same as your router and y is different for each computer (i.e. unique). If you use something like 1.2.3.4, it could be interpreted as fraud.

The Miggy has a local/private 192.168.0.x address the same as my other machines (plus the router does NAT anyway).
Anyone else have any other ideas? Also any idea how I can stop AmiTCP holding onto the CLI rather than forking as I'd expect it to?

run >nil: amitcp:amitcp ?

Thanks Thomas - I'll try that!
Brian: I seem to have the 403 error resolved - I had some weird DNS issues going on. The web is now working fine using iBrowse :)
