Hi whenever i try to install the demo i get an error which says "interpreter: Executing non-function in line 9". Has anyone got any ideas as to why? Im running AmigaOS 4.1 on a sam440ep.
TIA
-
With older systems it usually popped up when having an old version of installer.
-
A native update to Freespace for OS4.1 is coming soon, with its own installer that can install from the original Hyperion CD.

But this is a fresh install of amigaos 4.1 with update 1 & 2?
-
Oh wait, you're talking about the demo? I don't know if a new demo will be available...
-
So do i need a new installer?
-
Well. Its possible to modify the existing freespace installer to work on OS4.1, but I don't think the WarpOS build of the game even works on OS4.1.
-
So what is the best way around this for me to get the installer to work? I really want to play this game. :)
-
If you remove the lines that cause the problem, the installer works. But like I said, I don't think the game will work for you even if you install it.
An update for the full game will be out soon. I don't know if a new demo will be published.

How do i remove the lines ? sorry im a total noob with the amiga OS :)
-
If you run notepad and load the installer script into it, its just a text file.
But like I said, even if you manage to install it, it almost certainly won't work.
-
And what lines do i remove? sorry im still pretty new to all this :)
-
Your first post in this thread mentions line 9, that might be a place to start.
-
contact AFX Group at their homepage..I don't know about the demo but the game installer is flawless and the game is stunning on my Samflex:)

@klx300r
You are talking about Freespace 2, which is a different game. This is Hyperion's version of Descent Freespace: The Great War we're discussing here.

Well since i was having problems with quite a few games i decided to do a clean installation of the OS with update 1 and the game is now installing will let you all know how it plays :)

Well the game starts but when i try to enter a name on the first menu it says there is not enough space ? and then it will crash to workbench?
-
Could it be because i need warp3d? or could it be becuase im using an adaptor for the internal onboard display (i have a vga adaptor that plugs on the sam internaly) or is it becuase i just have not got a clue what im doing with amiga's as all my games either dont install or just simply crash?

It more likely because it was compiled for WarpOS many years ago with an ancient compiler, and used dirty tricks to get decent speed out of the old PowerUP hardware.
A new build of the full game for OS4.1 will be out soon, though.

Or god forbid, you could simply use a PC or a Mac to run it. Not like the universe is going to implode.

Yes i could but why would i want to do that when i can play it on a miggy. its not just that game its all games they install or wont install and when they are installed they either play then crash or dont play at all.

Well, an update to the full game is available from hyperions webpage for OS4.1.
Also, you can download an updated demo for OS4.1 from OS4Depot (http://www.os4depot.net/?function=showfile&file=game/action/freespacedemo.lha)
