Title: Amiga Arcade Machine?
Post by: mdv2000 on September 14, 2010, 06:49:31 PM
Well, this is a topic I searched, but really didn't find an answer.  I remember either being told or maybe I read it - that many years ago some arcade machines actually utilized Amiga hardware and hence the Amiga "port" of the game was almost identical to the Arcade version.  Is this true or did I just confuse the topic of porting games to Amiga compared to their Arcade source?

I searched the forums, but came up on too many threads about amiga vs pc vs arcade gaming of the time period.  If this topic has been covered and you can help me find the thread or just know the answer - much thanks!

Williams' Pinball 2000 machines, which were officially released late '99, consisted of two games: Revenge From Mars and SW: Episode I. The early prototype for the PB2K concept started in the early 90's (92-93 IIRC) by George Gomez and he used an Amiga 500 to drive the video display. Pretty neat bit of history there!

Awesome Links!  I remember Mad Dog Mcree and Up Scope!  Now I am going to see if I can find one of these in the used arcade market!

Magic Johnson's Fast Break (basketball) was released in two versions for the Amiga.  A 512k version which was the cut-down home version, and the 1 meg version was the full-arcade machine used directly as an A500 in the arcade.
