Hi,
I was at someones house yesterday and they hooked up a C128, but all it would show was a full screen of something that looked similar to... @@@@@@@@ . If you held down the "Commodore" key and turned it on it would boot into C64 mode without a problem. Is there a ROM chip or something specific for the 128 side?

Yes, the computer was on a shelf for years. It apparently worked when it was put in the box.

try re-seating all the IC's...that alone fixed many of my problems with computers that were sitting for long periods

Ok, yeah.. it is always advisable to disarm and make cleanup of all components and motherbord with isopropyl alcohol before turn on the computer, this becouse sometimes the components and board fill with humidity, and that sometimes make a shortcircuits in the componets.
