Title: A3000 and 4000 desktop case
Post by: orange on August 29, 2010, 03:27:37 PM
How much weight can those desktop cases support on top of them?
would it be ok to keep them on side, like tower?

Well they can at least support the 7-10lbs that the old C= monitors weighed.

While you could probably put them over on their sides there'd be no advantage to doing so.

Indeed with the A3000 it'd probably be disadvantageous given it's asymmetrical geometry.

In the past, I've had really heavy 17" CRT monitors on my 2000/3000/4000's before. Never a problem, but I always made sure the footing underneath the CPU's were nice. I pretty much always replaced 'em out of necessity, but I'd "enhance" their functionality by adding one the the middle of the case. More piece of mind I guess when you have such heavy components stacked atop.

Yet another reason why LCD monitors are superior! :)

I've never tested it, but you could probably stand on them.

It can hold up a 89 Jetta as a jack stand. I just know, ok....

About the most I'd stack on either is a monitor.
Problem with the A3000 is the mouse ports are on one side, meaning if you put the case on edge, the ports will be on the now top edge and crushed by the '89 Jetta. The A2000 case would suit tire changing and retro computing in a multitasking environment much better.
Personally, I don't mix car repair and computing... :D
