Does anyone know if there was ever an official CD32 keyboard made?
-
There was, but i think you are gonna have a really hard time finding one.
-
Do you have any more info?
The most I've heard is that there was one, but never seen a picture, advertisment, sale or otherwise for one. I wonder if there actually was or it's just a myth?

There was a black keyboard you could buy alongside the SX-1, I saw them in the computer magazine ads back in 95-97.
I wouldn't have a clue if there are any still floating around. UK would probably be the best place to look, Amiga had it's late golden age there.

Im afraid i cant help you anymore, however, considering there isnt even a picture of it here http://amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=660 id say its VERY rare indeed.

Was it a CD32 specific keyboard, with CD32 labelling, Amgia keys and so on? or just an ordinary PC keyboard?

That's part of the reason why I'm suspecting there might not actually be one. I can't find any reference on the net anywhere.
The only "proof" I have ever heard is from people stating that there was one.

I have one of those keyboards.
However I don't know if it's the official CD-32 keyboard.
The version I have is actually a CDTV keyboard with a rewired keyboard plug.
-
@Lizard
Is it labelled CDTV or CD32?
Apart from the wiring, is it any different from any other CDTV keyboard? Stickers? Labelling?
-
I found this http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=664 , but to me it's nothing more than a PC keyboard and not at all what I was expecting.

It just has "Amiga" on it.

I now own that particular keyboard and it is indeed the genuine article. :)
As I recall the keyboard came from a company in the states with some business connnection with Commodore.
I think their intention was to release it as a licensed expansion until the demise of Commodore. :(

CEI. They were Commodore's largest distributer in the U.S.

Yes Lierbag here on the Amiga org had one. CEI were a distributor out of Miami and they had these after the demise of Commodore. Lierbag found out about these guys they kind of had a store front walked in and picked one up for $40 or $50 bucks. A good score.
Lierbag had a legendary AmigaCD32 with the SX32, FMV, SCALA, Genlock, Elan perfomer, DCTV. I dunno if he's still in the Amiga scene.

Yep. He's left the scene. I sold him my A1200 a while back for his VJ'ing since he needed a serious upgrade from his limited A600 setup, but said eventually he would ditch Amiga.

@Akiko
Nice! Good to know there is actually a genuine keyboard!
-
Nice find, I only thought the reworked CDTV keyboards existed.
Which also works quite nice with a CD32 and SX-1.
