Title: Playstation Controllers for the Amiga
Post by: mantisspider on November 29, 2003, 02:07:59 PM
Howdy guys,

Just been looking for joysticks for my amiga. I saw that you can get a PSX Port Adapter for €45 from kdh-amiga-shop.com

Quote
This adaptor is a combination cable/software package that allows PlayStation peripherals to be used on your Amiga. The cable and software comes complete with a developer pack to allow programmers to utilise these peripherals. The software includes CD32 gamepad emulation, allowing instant compatibility with many software titles.
Supports one PSX controller or a Multitap (or compatible) for up to four controllers and/or memory cards
Software to emulate CD32 gamepad using lowlevel.library
Dual Analogue and Wheel support on compatible programs Future support of "shock" controllers

Has anyone tried one of these yet? Its much easier to find a playstation game pad than an amiga joystick that hasnt been thrashed towards an inch of its shelf life.

Using those analogue controlers on the amiga would be so cool. Hopefully the A1 will be able to use all the N64 and PSX controller adapters already out for the PC.

Hey,

If you want a playstation joypad to work with all amiga games with 2 buttons and analouge stick (yes!) buy an adaptor from www.tototek.com or www.liksang.com, do the mod listed in this thread PSX controllers (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=4209)

If you want to play Quake 2, or other FPS shooters using more buttons, then you need that PSXpad as the tototek model at the moment doens't support more than the 2 buttons.

Cheers,
Povl

Maybe consider the HoneyBee CD32 pad, you can get it from lik-sang for like 5UKP, but really... if you want to use it with mostly 2-button games (95% of all amiga games) then get that PSX adaptor i talked about! There's also a homemade guide to make your own adaptor for the PSX pad, that supports all CD32 buttons, but it doesn't support the analogue stick though :)

i have both a PSX-PORT and a psx hack from TOTEK /liksang , and for quake2,heretic2 etc i use PSX-port (supports every button etc)  and for games like superfrog-..i use the totek/liksang adapter , absolutely brilliant, and since the cd32 pads in general SUXX.... well this is the best! :)
