Which Amiga set up do you use most... :)
In my case, these days it's mostly PegasosII with MorphOS 2.
Sometimes I watch demos or play games on A1200 desktop with Blizzard 1260 card.
Also I own A3000 and A1200T, but these are "work in progres"s and not usable currently.

uae @ pc :afro:

Have not voted because there is no MorphOS/Peg II?Mac mini etc option
So as you can guess thats my main system. own three copies of Amiga forever wich never use anymore. And my PPC equipped A1200 is just gathering dust and rust under the stairs

That would be under AmigaOne Sam etc.
Put your vote there.
Minimig would be under classic the I guess.
Nowadays I just have a quickie on UAE from time to time.

Quickie on UAE, what sort of games you playing lol :)
On a smiliar note, anyone remember those games for the amiga, cant rememember the names, which were basically porn, but you had to move the mouse as quick as you could to get the man/women to arrive :)

Currently my towered A4000 is my main machine along with my Minimig v1.1 (ARM).
At some point I need to eBay a few spare miggies that are just gathering dust, but I want to assemble them as useful working systems. I know I can get more breaking them up, but I want to hand over some working sytems hopefully to people getting back into the Amiga and who might have forgotten half of what they knew.
Plans are for:
A1200 in Elbox Tower (NTSC).
Keyboard adapter with PC keyboard.
IDE Hard drive fitted with Classic Workbench AGA pagage installed.
(no "u" adapter for PCMCIA)
A2000 ECS Modded to boot into PAL (can change back with jumper)
Buddha IDE card
IDE Hard drive with Classic Workbench package installed
IDE CD ROM
8MB Zorro RAM card (unless sold seperately in which case I'll insert a CBM Zorro SCSI card with 2MB)
"Amber" Scan Doubler/Flicker Fixer in graphics slot
A2000 Keyboard
A3000 68030 model with CBM040/25 CPU card fitted (from my A4000)
IIRC 4MB of ZIP RAM on mobo
2 x FDD
Classic Workbench package installed on either an internal SCSI drive (most likely) or an external ORB 2GB cartridge drive
A3000 keyboard
Odds and ends:
2 x Squirrel PCMCIA SCSI adapters with software
SCSI ORB 2GB drive (unless used in A3000)
Zorro II SCSI card with 2MB RAM (unless used in A2000)
Zorro II 8MB RAM card (unless used in A2000)
Broken A2000 GVP 68030 CPU card (sometimes works, mostly doesn't) with SIMM - hopefully someone can fix it
CD32 PAL unit with UK PSU & Controller
Philips CDi NTSC unit with FMV module, US power supply & controller
4 x Internal ZIP100 IDE drives
1 x External ZIP100 SCSI drive
any other stuff I find covered in cobwebs
oh, and a Cybervision 643D unless I install it in the A2000 or A3000...
I'll let you all know when I do it. :D

I remember on that was grainy 3 clips (man humping woman, woman fondling jugs, man humping another woman) and you had to waggle the joystick back and forth until your wrist was so knackered that you couldn't hope to have a wank for a week!

Amiga 1200, with a 030/25 and 8 megs of ram. Nothing special really.
Barely touched UAE after getting it

my Samflex@800 running AmigaOS4.1 update 2 is my main Miggy now & this includes for playing may fav classic games via glUAE):afro:

I can't really decide. My time is split between emulation, classic and "next gen"...

I use various classic Amigas as well as a laptop and netbook that both boot into Aros natively. I don't use Microsoft or Apple systems. I don't have any CD or DVD burners connected to any of my Amigas other than a DVD burner inside an external case with USB connected to my Aros laptop, so I'm not sure how I'd go with trying to burn on the Amiga with that. The A1200 has USB on it, so I'm willing to give it a go if there's a chance we can get it to work.
-
MorphOS 2.5 on a MacMini G4 1.5 with 1 GB mem and an 80 GB HDD.

All you need to burn DVD's with an A1200 setup is either the 4xEIDE or FASTATA MKIII board and the DVD Burning & Ripping tools that I have placed on Aminet. :)

(Oh, And of course a DVD Burner...) :)

I use varius Amiga Classic models, A1000/A500/A2000/1200/A4000 with very diferents configurations..But my main Amiga is any A1200, 030, 32MB, PCMICIA Network Card, and still using Originals Commodore 1084s, 1942 monitors, this is a "Very Classic" Setup, becouse has OS 3.0 (in fact i am posting right now with them). Like another post talking about somthing like "Amiga like main machine" i still sayaing "The Amiga is my main machine". But i have some Pzeezz too, with MS Windoozzee and Linux, this becouse somethings i am needed. I still surprising how any Setup like the mine, can work today!..Thats Real Computer Power!
-
Ahhh, only the first option in the poll was relevant to me.... I only have classic machines here.... Never cared about Amiga emulation on other machines...... Meh......
-
I do use a modern LCD for mine. Still need to get it online once I got a bit of spare cash..
-
Which Amiga set up do you use most... :)
WinUAE on a USB jumpdrive. Mostly because I can take it and code wherever I'm at. Such as on the PC at work.
Next you should create a poll regarding which AmigaOS version is mostly used. Such as 3.0, 3.1, 3.5, 3.9, 4.0, 4.1 etc.
-
You forgot several possible options for the poll:
1. Classic Amiga ie: A500, A1200, A2000 etc...
2. AmigaOne, SAM, etc...
3. PC / MAC with Amiga Emulation
4. MorphOS on Efika, Pegasos1&2, G4 eMac, or MacMini
5. AROS on x86 hardware
6. MiniMig running Classic AmigaOS1.0>3.9
7. Amithlon running Classic AmigaOS
8. AmigaXL running Classic AmigaOS
9. FPGAArcade running Classic AmigaOS1.0>3.9 (and a dozen or so other computer, or console FPGA cores)
Make that at least 5 other choices and 1 more a possibility in the very near future, that should have been included in the poll!
I use #'s 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, & 8, with 4 being the most used and 1 a very close second. I hope to have #6 some day, or #9 when it is available for purchase by the general public.
-
Mac mini with MorphOS. As none of the options seems to be suitable, I don't vote.

I didn't forget any "options" your options 4 to 8 can quite simply fall under options 2 or 3.
How can I include 1 more possibility (9) of something that may appear in the future, ( I may be a bit Psycho, but Im not a Psychic !!!)
The poll asks Which Amiga You Use not which Amiga You Hope To Use

The Amigs setups I use the most are, without any doubt and without any hope, Icaros Desktop on an Athlon64 X2 5200+/GF7800 desktop PC and an Aspire One A150 netbook. Then, I also use AROS on several virtual machines.
I forgot to mention also AmigaOS 4.1 on the oldest SAM, but I don't really use it so much.
-
WinUAE 90% of the time... Even on my old P4 3.0GHz PC it runs 30 times faster than an A4000 040/25 :-)
I do still have an A500 which I use to test games...
-
Cyberstormed A4000 with a Mediator and the usual assortment of PCI cards, but I'm thinking of switching to a more basic A1200 setup.
-
I use:
A1200 in EZ-Z4 Tower, Bliz1230MkIV + SCSI/128MB + Mediator + Voodoo 5500 + SB128
A4000 + Apollo 4040 + 128mb/16mb (Waiting for my PicassoIV to be delivered)
A600 + Apollo 630 + 32mb
I have another A1200D + a spare A600
I'm waiting for an A608 for my spare A600 and it has a HxC Floppy Emulator instead of a FDD.
Once I get a Bliz 1260 for my Tower (or fix/upgrade my broken Apollo 1240) then the Bliz 1230 will go in my spare A1200D.

You lumped quite a few groups into one, I think that is what some people are compaining about. Some of us are kinda touchy on the subject. Personally I use Winuae the most but I want to use AROS more.
I don't want to be lumped into AmigaOne (meh) or SAM (very expensive meh)

From some of the response's I've had from your side of the pond in my posts, I'd have to say touchy would better being replaced by touched... :biglaugh:
It's always nice being putdown by a geek, cheers mate... :roflmao:

You'll miss the graphics card for Workbench.
I have a beefed up A1200 setup (Flyer gold IDE, SDFF, PCMCIA network card) as well has my Mediator A4000 tower I can't remember when I last turned it on.
My "basic" Amiga is my Minimig.

As others were, I was kind of torn about how to answer this poll. I chose the emulation option, but I use my real Amigas as often as WinUAE.

Are we so different? Are we any more opinionated or biased? Only Amiga users make it possible ;).
I guess that they have all been brainwashed and conned into buying PeeCees (puke) and Crapple Macs (boak) and seem to be sadly under the delusion that running an Amiga emulator makes them a true part of the Amiga community.
Just for your information, some of us "over here" stand up and fight for what we believe in and love. I voted for classic as that's all I use. 3000T with CSMK3 68060@75MHz with Mediator+Voodoo4+FastEthernet. Waiting for and programming for, (in the purest way possible, 68k assembler) the return of the beautiful 68k through fpga. May the Natami and MiniMig+ bring in a new era of Amiga computing :).

Is that 1200 I sold you still kicking?

Hi matthey... we meet again... :)
Believe it or not mate, I agree with almost everything you say, your a man after my own heart ie: Amiga, 68k and strong opinoins. :)
Just make sure you keep me on my toe's, as I enjoy our little exchanges. ;)
Cheers :drink:

Is that 1200 I sold you still kicking?
Yep, its still going strong and a corner stone of my collection. I have this one and another A1200 that I use quite often. I still have my original A1000 and a second one as a backup, an A600, CDTV and an A500. One of these days I would like to add an CD32, A3000 and A4000 to the collection.
I never thought back in 1985 that I'd still be plunking away on these old Heros!
What are you using these days?
Regards,
AmigaEd
-
I still use an old A1000 with 1.3OS, and an A2000 with 3.5OS.
I still use ImageFX (depend on it actually) so I will use some version of a classic Amiga for ever...
-

Yes, including the FPGAArcade board was not too smart of me, but I was too lazy to go back and take it out after I re-read the poll's purpose. As for the others fitting in your 3 choices, I would have to disagree. For one example, MorphOS2.x is NOT an emulator, but it does provide some JIT emulation as part of the rest of it's unique OS.

A500 with Derringer 030/50, internal FF/SD, GVP A500+ (soon to be AdIDE once I have time to complete that project.)
A2000 with Blizzard 2060, Ariadne II, Spectrum 28/24
A1200 with Blizzard 1260, PCMCIA network, external SD/FF, 4GB CF
A3000, still pretty much unexpanded, but a somewhat more active project
and my daily pride-and-joy,
A4000 with CyberStorm MKIII, PIV, 18GB SCSI
I have two dead CyberStorm PPC cards that are on the top of my list of things to get done. After that will come the Deneb(s).
Recently I obtained a MacMini to run MorphOS and I fear it may usurp the position of my 4000D, but that remains to be seen as I have yet to scrounge up the registration cost.
-
Hello, i'm using a sam 440ep, a Pegasos 2 (Morphos 2.5).
-
Hmmm playing non CD32 games is via WinUAE (convenience mainly) but actually doing something else like making music or drawing pix etc is on either my A1200 or A1000 rigs.
-
Hmm on the Amiga side I mainly use my A1200+indivision+060+WB3.5 but this will soon give way to a A4000 I'm building up. Quite regularly boot up Amikit on my main pc also. Would love to buy a Sam but just cant justify it at the moment.

I mostly use winuae and aros, but I have had at least one amiga since the early to mid 90's. I went from two a1000's to that 1200 to a 3000 and now I am thinking of getting a 600 or 1200 motherboard and building an amiga laptop. I was thinking of using a minimig board but I'm not sure if I'd have the time or money to build one with college starting back up in less than a month.

The Poll currently stands at... :)
61 Real Die Hard Amigans... :biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:
20 Amigans who have bought into a future dream... :):):)
And 18 who use Emulators, because they know deep down in their hearts that even an Amiga Emulator is better than the machine they are running it on... :roflmao:

Hi i missed the earlier Amiga years ,and up to now have been using a pc that i built, and it bores me to tears,im now a proud owner of the Amiga 1200 and i might not know how to use ,but :):)its really good fun to use ,and if i ever get on the net with it,then its goodbye pc :):):)

How did you become "MAD AS A HATTER" instead of the usual post count related designations?
Have you got a special certificate? :o)

Nice, those are some pretty optimistic descriptions of all three catagories. Usually there is too much slinging to put the positives forward. My miggy runs pretty smoothly on a 64bit cpu, though I'd like to get an '030 again :)

Hi golem... :)
It's quite simple just subscribe to AMIGA.org for only £12.95 (a bargain if you ask me) and you can title yourself whatever you want, plus lots of other benefits too. :)
(if the forum admins are viewing, do i get a cut !!!) :biglaugh:
The hard bit, earning a medal beside your name... You have to be an insomniac like myself (and Mad As A Hatter) and type away as many posts as you can, until the green bar reaches 100%. Then they give you a medal in the faint hope that you'll go away and stop bugging everyone. :roflmao:
PS: Nearly forgot... Yes I Am 100% Certified...
-
I'm still using real Amiga's, an a1000, a2000 and a1200 (I had all Amiga models but sold most of them the last couple of years).
I've also used MorphOS (IMHO the best NG Amiga OS) for over 7 years on two Pegasos II boards (started with a Pegasos I in 2003) but no more. Nowadays I'm only interested in real Amiga's simply because I don't care about the Amiga OS clones (MorphOS, AROS and OS4) anymore. Sadly most software for these systems are Linux ports, no problem with that but simply put; I can run them better and faster on my main system (a 7 year old ASUS A7N8X AMD 2500+) running Debian SID.
-
I expected UAE to be used the most?
Anyway, I use my A500 the most, and recently also my A1200.
-
/me is mostly using MorphOS 2.x on a Mac mini these days... With occasional excursions to E-UAE on MorphOS or WinUAE on Windows 7. So I've voted for "etc."
-
WinUAE to play the like 5 games that didn't have PC or other counterparts that I liked better.
-
I use WinUAE on my MAME cabinet and use WinUAELoader and the Maximus Arcade frontend to launch games. Amiga games+real arcade controls=loads of fun.
-
WinUAE to run a CNet Amiga Pro BBS program. I even up-loaded a screen...
-
The setup I use is:
A1200 with Blizzard 1230 IV, no FPU, 16 MB ram (not enough), 40 GB hard disk, 52/32/52 speed CD Rewriter and a PCMCIA network adapter.
The A1200 I bought secondhand 15 years ago, died at the beginning of this year. Bought a secondhand motherboard after being broke for five months. I'll keep replacing the motherboard until none can bought anymore (that will be a sad day), at which point it's probably over for me, Amiga wise, unless there are some good alternatives (no emulation, thank you).
-
I mostly use my Amiga A500 to play games but my A600HD is quickly becoming my favorite now that i have network and web capabilities.
-

As you may have gathered, I'm a 68k man all the way when it comes to the Amiga, so I currently use slightly beefed-up classic hardware. I'm definitely open to next-gen 68k-based systems when they're finally available, though.
-
My primare computer is uA1c :) using it all the time no PC here :)

Although I tinker with and look after many others, I basically have only 3 Amiga's set up and used all the time:-
A4000 Desktop with CyberStorm MKI 060/50, Picasso II GFX card, Oktagon SCSI card, Tamdem device with 4GB Compact Flash card, 8.4GB IDE HDD, 9GB SCSI HDD sitting on the Oktagon SCSI card, IDE DVD/CD Writer, IDE Zip drive fitted beneath floppy drive in front panel and an external Iomega 2GB Jaz drive on rear socket of Oktagon SCIS card.
A1200/030 Desktop running OS3.9 and used mostly for WHDLoad games and has an internal 6GB HDD and CDrom on a Squirrel.
A4000 Desktop with CSPPC 604e 233Mhz and 060/50, CybverVision 64/3D, Oktagon SCISI card and as external Iomega Zip 100 drive. I swap various hard drives depending on whether I want to run OS3.1, OS3.9, WarpOS or OS4
:)

All I've got is a bog standard A500 at the moment.
I sadly got rid of my mac mini shortly before MorphOS support for it was announced.
If the Natami project comes to fruition some time in the next year or two, I'll probably update to that.
