I cant see any reason it'd hurt anything.THe amiga just sees it as a drive. I've accidentally installed games to the card and it worked fine

Hi and thankyou to all for the help, i have 4gb cf harddrive fitted in my amiga 1200 and i have taken quite a few games off that and transfered them to a another 4gb cf card and it works very well, the only problem i had is the amiga does not like kingston cf cards in yet sandisk are very good and work well i used the Easyadf adapter from amigakit to get the card into the pcmcia slot

Yeah, I do this all the time! You just have to make sure you have enough RAM, a stock A1200 trying to mount and load games from a FAT-formatted CF or SD card won't have enough RAM left to play most games, but if you have an accelerator or RAM expansion you're good to go! Just download the whole WHDLoad collection onto a 8GB CF card and you'll never run out of games to play.
