So some we bstore, which just happens to be in the US and which shall remain unnamed, has asked for a copy of my "identification" for the order to be processed ?! Is this normal behaviour ? I don't think so. Only God knows what someone, somewhere might do with that.
What do you guys think ?

How did they motivate that requirement?

I have seen similar with credit card transaction, they want you to fax a signed form in. Otherwise it is only government etc. that may want you fax/scanned copy of id.
Web Search for another post similar to yours if not make one about this issue.
Related to this I have to show photo ID to couriers or at the post office when I'm picking up a parcel.

It happens. To get my telly from a French webstore to Finland I had to send a copy of some receipt with my name on it. Credit card wasn't enough.

Ok, a signature with a receipt, signed form etc. is one thing, or even showing my id in person. Sending a copy of my id is totally different, it might open all kinds of possibilities for fraud if it ends up in the wrong hands.
I'm canceling the transaction and not buying anything like this....
Thanks for the replies
Cheers

Sounds like a scam. On a related note, I was just at Disneyland, and not a single credit card purchase, regardless of the price, required a signature or verification of identity.

@OP - Well as far as I have read many sites selling items/money in MMORPGs try to scam asking for your ID or VISA scanned before they "accept" you, even if you pay with a verifyed PayPal.

Where I live we never show ID or sign if we use our pin when using our card.
Tho if you do not have/know your pin they either require a signature or ID verification ^^

It's the same here, but I wasn't using a debit card.
