I've managed to get an ECS (OK KS 2.04 + ECS Denise...not sure about Agnus memory limit on this machine) Rev 6.2 machine up and running.
Now usually colour codes mean certain things preventing boot like bad chip ram etc but couldn't find any useful info about what it means if the screen just remains white and the insert disk anim for KS2 or hand holding disk image for KS1.? means. One site hinted at a bad KS ROM but I don't have any spare right now and only an A1000 and A600/A1200 which is no good to test this ROM from an A2000.
Any ideas?

The A600 and A2000 ROMs can be swapped for testing.

Thought you needed 2.1 for the A600, cheers will give it a go tonight and see what happens.
Anyone got any other ideas apart from a suspect KS ROM for a permanent white screen?

That's ram. Can't remember which one, maybe chip. Either a pin is wrong, or something isn't seated. Or perhaps a trace/pin is nearly corroded through.

2.05 is required to support the A600's IDE, but I've gone as far back as KS1.3 on an A600 for booting games incompatible with 2.x.
edit: though that 1.3 was a "special" one on a multi-Kickstart chip..

I thought you were talking about an A2000 here? Not sure what you mean by the KS2 disk anim and hand holding KS1.? bit. If you are getting the load KS anim then the rom is sounding okay.
Is it booting from floppy or HD ?
Is the screen going blank after booting ?
No too clear here.
Some things to check:
Check both the mono out and the video out to make sure its not a connector problem.
Remove and reseat the KS. Make sure it's in the right way.
That's my ideas. goodluck.

Just comes up with a pure white screen, ie it doesn't show anything (in this case the KS2 animated disk on the purple background) and it doesn't start off as light grey for a few seconds, instant white screen.
I've got a custom KS1.3 in my 600 on an auto switcher too so wasn't sure if a CSG labelled A2000 KS2.04 would work on it at first. I'll work on it later after work.
I don't think any of the RAM is socketed so if it is that then it's not fixable for me. Ho hum.

White screen is always ugly. I've had that a couple times and gave up in frustration.
