Title: Best WB treatment for ECS Amiga?
Post by: blakespot on July 16, 2010, 04:52:46 PM
I have an A2000 with no vidcard (ECS) that I am accelerating (just an '020).  What's the best looking / functioning icon treatment I can go with?  Old MagicWB?  Or is that so old that it's problematic?

Thanks.  (Screenshots?)

Probably ClassicWB 68K

Makes it easy to get a functional, good looking WB setup without a lot of fuss.

Does your A2000 have 3.x roms in it?

Yes, it has 3.1 ROMs (1.3 also, on a switcher). 8MB FAST, 1MB CHIP.

Classic WB Advanced will probably fun fine:

PS: I love reading ByteCellar ;)

I run Classic Workbench ADV on my A600 (its accelerated with an Apollo 630@33mhz/32mb) and even with the 030 its a little slow due to the 16 colour screen mode.  It looks awesome though, I've got some pics of it running if you're interested.

You can drop it down to 8 colour for a little speedup but it does spoil the looks a little.  Still awesome compared to regular workbench icons :)

Oh and you won't be able to use the copper background.

Steve.

I would just stick with ClassicWB GAAE (Classic Workbench Green Amiga Alien Edition) ;)

What happen if you install any of this Packs, over your WB, modify or change something?.. You know if you have some Softare, this will change something in the config, and maybe dont work after insltalled?

Yes , you might find some of your software doesn't work.  IMO if you want the pack then start from scratch: install the pack then install your software.
