Title: Canon BJC610. Need turboprint?
Post by: runequester on July 15, 2010, 06:40:13 AM
I've seen a few people in the past recommend this printer, but they have been using turboprint. Now, I see TP is still being sold, but its kinda pricey.

Would this printer work without it or will the miggy not recognize it at all ? Im okay with it printing kinda slow if thats all the loss. I'd mainly use it for text anyways.

well, I am trying to figure out if it'll work before buying one. They are dirt cheap off ebay, but shipping gets a bit pricey :)

Looks like I should be fine though

Worst case, look for a copy of wolf faust(sp?) cannon studio,it was great back in the day and supported many printers.

if you have a network printer, and the amiga is on the network, you can probably use it with
netprinter.device off aminet.Your printer must run postscript. i print to a xerox phaser 6130n color laser and it works fine. i had a cannon bjc-610E back in the day ,it was a piece of crap and wasted ink like no tomorrow.note the "E".

I think it's the same as my first Aminet link, CanonDisk V3.98d. - at least the same guy has done it.

I'd go with TurboPrint anyway, it's great. Makes your printing much better in quality and other aspects :)
