Hi.
I have downloaded the ryleh.zip archive from Aminet and installed it. Or this is what i think i did, because the instructions say to copy the r#_db##.wav and r#_cb##.wav files to spesific directories of the game, but there are no such files in the archive! Furthermore, there is no mention for the .ani files that the archive contains.
I tried to play the campaign anyway. I chose the campaign and proceeded to mission briefing. My Amiga freezes while loading the briefing of the 1st mission. What's going on?

You're probably better off going here (http://www.hard-light.net/) to pick up expansion packs etc.

We are both talking about the Amiga version of "FreeSpace: The great war", right? I can't find any expansion packs in this site, can you point me to a link please?

I haven't tried to play FreeSpace on an Amiga yet, but wouldn't any of the expansion packs work with the Amiga conversion of the FreeSpace game engine?
Usually with such games that have been ported to the Amiga, only the game engine is ported and all the data for the game is used "As-Is" with no alterations of the game images, sounds, music, etc.

Yes, we're talking about Freespace.
Good news and bad news:
Good news here is the Ryleh campaign (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=60336.0)
Bad news: It was never finished.

In principle yes.

Some total conversions (specificaly ones involving FS2) Are geared toward certain versions of the FS2_Open engine and don't like it when you try to run them on others. I have read that some straight up missions can be a little tricky if they've been written for engine versions later than what you have.

It should be like this, i know, but i have yet to find a total conversion or even a campaign (apart from the unfinished Ryleh one) which is compatible. Only single missions. :(
So, if anyone has found what i'm looking for...

Bad news: It was never finished.
When the star's are right our lord shall arise from his slumber in the great city of R'yleh!
IA Cthulhu!
Now a truly great coup for the Amiga would be Hyperion or someone getting hold of the rights to all those Call Of Cthulhu games that Headfirst never finished and make them for OS4. I would buy an X1000 for that, even at £1500. Shame the chances of that are almost non existent.
For Cthulhu fans, Fantasy Grounds II from Smiteworks would make an awesome port too and quite pluasable IMHO....
.....and yes, I know this post is a tad off topic but I'm a huge fan of all things squidy, I even did a bit of illustration for Chaosium a couple of years back. :)
