Number of individuals worldwide regularly using Amiga in some capacity? (classic, emulation, MorphOS, AROS etc.) Also, number regularly using Commodore 64? (or emulation)
-
Really complicated to estimate a specific number of users, but I think there is a larger amount out that one would think, also with users of C64, these could be more because there are many PC users who were C64 and then switched to PC, anda never had Amiga

42?

If you're talking Classic AmigaOS... Maybe 2 - 3000, about a tenth of what there was ten years ago. Maybe 750 - 1000 using OS4 in some capacity and I doubt very much higher numbers for MorphOS.
The C64 crowd by all accounts is a great deal bigger and always has been.

Just about, cause here in the Netherlands it's 100-200 at most, Amigas were very populair here, if you look at Germany it may be double and bit more that amount so at the most 300-500.
And then the rest of the world, 1000-1500.
Most Amiga's are laying in a dark scruffy attic or some wet basement, rotting away
-
If emulation counts and we're counting "plays games occasionally" as using it, I'd imagine a ton.

Wrong guess, it's actually much more.
If the membership numbers of the HCC Commodore group acount to something it's more closer to 550 in NL alone (last HCC count was 575 paying members).
And believe me, not all active Amiga/64 users are members...
-
See if you can get the download statistics for the various UAEs. Otherwise I would say about 2000 active for Amiga. Another 2000 for C64. Who knows how many casual/dormant.
-
SIMPLE,
Find out how many people APC&TPC have tried to sue this decade ;-)
-
I would say about 10000 to 15000. There have been almost 1000 registrations of MorphOS. If there were only 2000 users total, that would mean that half of all active amiga users are using MorphOS, which I doubt is the case. It's probably more like 10%, about the same for OS4, and 80% using Classic Amigas.
Edit. Forgot about UAE and Aros. Add another 1k for Aros users and probably several thousand using UAE but the vast majority just for playing old games which I don't think counts.
-
How about using A.org to attempt a rough count?
I'll set up a poll with a few simple choices and if we link to it on other amiga sites maybe we can get a rough count of how many Amigans there are...
-
I imagine there are alot more users then we think, would tho be nice to get a sales number of AmigaOS 4.x and MorphOS, My guess there would be alot more MorphOS users then AOS4 on NG systems due to the hardware price?
-
I would guess only about 3000 active amiga users, and that's optimistic...
-
Where's that previous thread?
I've been a member of amiga.org for a looooong time, since '99 I think? We have had many threads over the years that have discussed the current amiga population, some using activity on sites like this, some using activity on ebay.
None ever had any real conclusion more than speculation.
I think for most purposes activities like Morphos, Aros, Amiga forever downloads, etc. aminet and forum site activity are good enough for me.
-
It looks like its more visitors compared to some years back and that could indicate a growing pool of dark matter Amiga enthusiasts living outside the visual range.
-
I would say the very activate users, who still use there Amiga or Amiga like machine on a daily bases and buy amiga products and attend user groups etc there must be around 2,000 to 3,000, world wide.
then I would say on top of that number there are around about another 2,000 to 3,000 people who still follow the amiga and maybe use just an emulator now and again and follow progress etc.
Then most likely after that they might be as many as a million computer users who still remember what Amiga was and might have an ever so slight passing interest in the Amiga

No idea on C-64 guys. If you throw in UAE/OS3,OS4,AROS, MOS all together, IMO, probably somewhere between 5,000 and 7,000.
-
Difficult to say.. All I know is that I get between 15 and 17,000 visitors to the site every month so I guess the Amiga does have a reasonable following.
