Good morning ladies and gents of the coffee house.
Not much to say here.
Just checking in to see how everything has been going, and hoping the hysteria has subsided regarding the site's new ownership. Ownership which -- I must say -- appears most stable, if not almost stagnant.
As for me, shortly after selling the site, lost the main job due to layoffs. Spent 4 months on the government tit, then got an offer for a temp gig in Montgomery, AL, about 200 miles away from home.
Spent almost 5 months living in a hotel, now got an apartment on my birthday.
Been concentrating almost solely on work, so haven't had much of a chance to Webify as of late anyway.
Got the iPad. Been using the new 27" iMac almost exclusively to rip my 400+ DVD collection to put on the iPad and just passed the 300 mark the other day. This task hasn't been helped however by Movie Gallery going out of business and selling all their tens of thousands of movies at $2.99 USD a pop.
Loving the iPad. It's pretty much everything I need. Especially with 3G service, though I wish it weren't AT&T.
Anyway, that's my babble. Thanks for listening.

Hi Wayne,
I was made redundant just over 3 weeks ago. On the plus side, 2 weeks later I started a 4-month contract which has been pretty work intensive.

Contrats on the contract. Seems a LOT of people I know are in the same boat as we two. Interestingly, those who suffered earliest now seem to be the ones recovering.
Just beware. Time flies.

Glad to hear things are on the way up (although working away from home sucks imho).
I've likewise ended up sucking the milky teet of the Govt at the moment. Trouble is, can't tolerate the thought of being a wageslave again at the moment (at least not full-time permanent). Too much stress for the benefit of someone else's pocket.
Am quite tempted to get out of Engineering completely, and just open a shop. It may not be rocket science, but at least it would mean working for my own benefit rather than lining someone else's pocket.
Anyhoo, take it easy dude.

Not necessarily a bad thing!

It seems the ppl who find work have to start their own business. When corporations make decisions, why do moral considerations always take a back seat to everything else?
