Title: Mock-Up Example A-Eon Website
Post by: djrikki on June 23, 2010, 11:22:23 PM
For those of you who don't venture over to Amigans.net that often I have been working on a 'mock-up' of the A-Eon. My interpretation of what it could look like in the future; or rather the content I hope it would contain.

Most pages are complete-ish aside from AmigaOS, Developer and Contacts.

I'd like more feedback, so if you have time, please post it here. :afro:

Oh.  I thought you'd made a webshite taking the piss out of A-Eon.  Whoops.

@OP

Nicely done.

Mods may wish to change "Mock" to "Mockup" to prevent the terminally thin skinned from getting butthurt over what is actually a nice gesture.

It looks great! I think you should pad, so the footer is closer to the bottom, but I don't know what screen size you're shooting for. I'm on a 21", so the text looks a bit small, but your links at the top get a bit lost with the grey strip at the top of the header. This could be 'cos of my screen size, however.

Well done and thanks for showing us! :)

Same here!

But on a more serious note, I was thinking more along the lines of something like this:

It looks pretty good. One bit of constructive criticism, regarding the logo in the upper left:

(http://www.a-eon.com/gfx/logosmall.png)

The green doesn't seem to go well with that logo and the red is dull. Perhaps ditch the green and pump up the red.

Thanks for the comments so far.

@koaftder

Yeah the logo is pretty lame.

As regards to the footer, yeah hard to keep it in a fixed position; at the bottom.  But when all the pages are full of content you would never noticed its because a handful are short in content.

Screen sizes are always an issue, on my iMac at home it looks great, but on my iBook with a different resolution the content of the footer overflows. Tricky.

I am designing at resolution 1680 x 1050, but I've tried to fix the overall body width to 75%, but telling the browser to leave it there is another business altogether.  I've jumped in and out of different resolutions, but you have to draw the line somewhere.

PS. Does this board have any moderation?  Seems to be a lot of posters who haven't reached puberty yet.

Layout needs lots of work.  At anything other than full screen the tables don't line up or are wrapped.  Not too fond of the content either.  Words like "ghetto" don't really belong on a professional web page.

@djrikki

It's quite nice but there are a fair few broken images here (viewing in chrome), including two on the main page.

Not a clue why, must be a chrome problem.

I run Safari here which is a WebKit browser same as OWB.  Isn't Chrome part of the 'WebKit' family too?

Ok this is interesting... I updated Opera today... And the images are gone. I mean I can still get them to show up if I manually type in their addresses as they appear in the page source. But they refuse to come up on their own otherwise.

You have done a lot of work for a mock up website. I really like it.

What is your next plan? to offer it to A-Eon?

Very odd behaviour, I've hand-coded the side from scratch so I know I haven't entered that and I clearly see no malformation.

Replace

With

/x1000/badge.png

Homepage:
The images need a bit of photoshopping and cleaning up or resourcing.

The case pic has an ugly cut-off reflection underneath and jpeg artefacts.

The circular logo/badge has a band of lighter pixels around the rim that make the edge over the dropshadow look messy.

The boingball in the bg looks vertically squashed too.

Also, the case pic might look better on the left side so it leads the eye in instead of out.

Otherwise, quite nice.
