I haven't managed to watch a match yet :-( (due to ITV player being rubbish, or being out, or busy)

England tomorrow night though, I better catch that one.

I hate soccer/football/kickballers/feetballers. I don't watch the cup. When someone asks me about the cup, I tell him straight that I don't waste time with soccer. I have better way to spend my free time.

Watching match and drinking beer? This was invented by the beer companies to sell more of the useless drink to the footballers.
I have Chelsea soccer outfit, but this is because the team was sponsored by Commodore.

Three football players “ Iker Casillas, Lionel Messi and David Beckham•“ are invited to heaven watch the World Cup final with God. God decides who will sit next to him by asking them the same question.
God asks Iker first: "What do you believe?" Iker says, "I believe in hard work and staying true to family, teammates and friends." God is impressed by the Spaniard and offers him a seat to the left.
God then turns to Messi and asks "What do you believe?" Messi says, "I believe loyalty, discipline, courage and honor are the fundamentals of life." God is impressed and offers the Argentinian a seat to his right.
Finally, God turns to Beckham: "What do you believe?" Beckham then says, "I believe you're in my seat."

This one for the Yanks.

A security guard at a soccer match noticed two U.S. fans climbing a fence. The guard grabbed them by the collars and said "Now just get back in there and watch the game until it finishes."

I usually (am able to) avoid all the public noise. So I can actually enjoy watching football with a couple of friends (if I werent a bit sick today).

I'm loving it, hardly anybody in the library right now. Almost everyone buggered off to watch a match this afternoon. Perfect to get some thesis work done!

But otherwise, humbug to football.

Yes! I especially hate that the sport has infiltrated most of the other gaming/computing forums I subscribe to. A little surprised to see so many turned into robots and fair weather fans that way. The popularity of American Football (Gridiron) within the past 30 years is robopathic enough, but Soccer now? I guess most people need a diversion from the reality of life. Just something else to follow, while not really 'living', so they may continue to lead passive lives when there are soooo many other important things going on that need attention. Gulf debacle anyone? I truly believe that many, if not most, Americans are living in this perpetually dysfunctional state of post traumatic stress. Between the irreversibly damaging joke which is politics to the daily tragedies we're all subjected to - it's little wonder. Game on I guess. Nobody or nothing is going to change these types of people. We're all DeVo.

Gridiron sucks, there are a couple of small clubs around that play it, looks a little bit like Rugby League, except they stop the play all the time, why you have to stop play I don't have a clue, Rugby League doesn't.  Plus the players must be patsies, they dress like Darth Vader, oooo, I might hurt myself if someone touches me...

Thank Zeus we have no room for another football code here....

What World Cup would be complete without something that everyone can take home with them?

So, ladies and gentlmen I present you, this:

Damn, wish I'd noticed this thread when the football was on! I don't know how any team winning any game could actually affect a persons life unless they were on that team. Also in the UK it seems to be a time when lots of fights kick off in pubs when football is on. Not my idea of a good time...

Football codes are like religions, soccer, gridiron, rugby league, rugby union, all claiming to be the true football.  Maybe someone could design a code to bring all the codes together....
