Interesting, but way to ruin a rare A4000 case. :-( I think that he had the case conversion process all wrong...it should be Amiga to PC case, not the other way around! :-)
-
A "Case" of desecration. Shame shame shame!

Our hero woke up at 8 that morning... he switched on his lovely A4000... AmigaOS 3.9 came up to the screen... everything was indicating, it would be a lovely Saturday morning... he connected to the internet with his cable broadband connection, and started reading the news, using IBrowse... he picked up the cup to taste some of the coffee he made a few minutes before... in a tragic moment, the cup slipped off his fingers and fell onto the A4000 case ... suddenly smokes started comming off the box and the fuses on his flat's electrical table went off.... he was in panic!!! he opened-up the case and tried to dry-up the motherboard...it looked like a mess! It seemed that a few components on the heroic A4000 motherboard, had burned up... He tried to put it back on...it wouldn't work. He was broken!!! He just saw his beloved amiga, burning up in front of him! A couple of days had past, and his life was a living hell.... he couldn't stand it...he couldn't move forward and face the day without his beloved A4000 booting up AOS 3.9 in front of him, after long days at work... A month later he found a way to make things "fine" again.... he put a pc into the A4000 case! He could once again run amiga programs on a computer that looked exactly like his old A4000, using Amithlon and AmigaOS XL! A month later he wouldn't realize the difference. He couldn't realize the twistedness of this new reality! His mind was lost.... One day, he invited a friend over, for a few beers and to show him the new Pagestream package...when his mate realised how schizophrenic he (our hero) has become with his faceless Athlon, boxed in the lovely amiga case, he became very concerned about his mental health and he dragged him violently to the shrinks!!! The doctors decided he was dellusional, and that he should stay instituted for, at least 5 years, away from all kind of computers and especially AMIGAS!!! His mate went back to our hero's flat, packed-up the amiga-boxed-pc and put an advert on the ebay.... it is only a matter of time until our hero finds out about what his buddy has done....
(BTW, in case you didn't get it, our hero was the person featured in the interview at WrongPla.net about Genesi's secret "institutional customer"!!!)

It's nice, but the backplate lacks slots for any PCI cards that could be added. Personally, I think the A2000 case would have made a better choice, as there are loads of those kicking around. More room inside, too.
I would seriously consider buying this if Amithlon was pre-installed. And if I lived in the UK. ;-)

*shrug*
Some people...

I AM GOING TO BUY IT!
How good is Amiga emulation on a PC?
@amiga(ebay)mad,
......and yet another good find.............
-
I find an AMD system in an A4000 case disturbing! The A4000 motherboard was probably dead, but still!!!!!
The prophesy comes true.. "A shell of its former self"
-
If it was an A1 motherboard I would understand (hell I even have an A4000 case here for that ocasion) but a PC, please no, it's just not right!
-
Hmmm, I wonder what OS one could run on this...?

I'd venture that you can run the same OS the AmigaOne runs right now..... LINUX.
Seriously, guys... What's the big deal? The 4000 probably blew up ages ago, or was a tower conversion. Why not have some fun with the left over parts?
Really, though, it looks like a rather sloppy job. Big gaps between the floppy drive and the top of the bay cover for bay 2... As mentioned, no expansion slots... Big gaps and those ugly phillips screws sticking out at the ex-joystick now USB ports.... Missing some case screws... The list goes on.
[edit]
Jeez.... I missed the punchline, Bloodline.... I'm sure it'd run AROS great, too! ;-)

;-) For a second language, you did very well.
:-? As for the original A4000 motherboard, the ad doesn't say what happened to it. Maybe it was moved to a tower kit, and the original case was left over?

I think this is a smart idea and with the amigaone lite and the pegasos boards being so small they would make even better transplants .I have a dodgy a4000 desktop that i could use for this sort of thing but i wont im trying to get it sorted. The a4000 tower i have would be a great amigaone case with modifaction something i have been thinking of. :-)

Am I to assume the A4000T is dead? If so, I`d like to buy it.
-
m I to assume the A4000T is dead?
it is dead but a4000,s are good at dying.
-
Why is everyone freaking out about it so much? The A4000 cases look terrible anyway! ;-)

True it does and it is crap for space and ventilation.I reckon this is the best thing to do with dead a4000.s
-
NO! How can you guys diss the the A4000 case? It is clearly a better mint compared to the others? What is wrong with this machine?!
-
Nah! In terms of looks, the A3000 beats it hands down. In terms of space for expansion (going by what I've heard) the A2000 is way better.
-
I agree that A3000 case looks nicer, however what sucks about A3000 case is that it doesn't have a 5.25" bay.
-
The A3000 case i a little old now and had no room for CD ROM drive like someone mentioned. Come on guys, this is the A4000 we are talking about here! Are we all losing our marbles?! :-o
-
 Half the time you can't fit a normal CD-ROM drive in the A4000 case anyway. It sticks out the front! ;-)
-
@that_punk_guy
I am sure with a little force everything will fit into place :-)
-
Ive just bought an a3000 of of ebay the 4000 i put together sucks motherboard was not perfect working order as it was advertised and this thing has so little room in it besides the 3000 when it comes has got an external cdrom and will be a much better than my 4000 is at the moment im just hoping i can use the 060 card i have for the 4000 in it.
The amiga 2000 has so much space and is so well laid out you could almost live inside the thing.

Always remember, the sledgehammer is mightier than the sword.
:-D

You need a sledgehammer the psu is right behind the drive bay i only just maneged to get a cdrom to fit in :-)
-
As i said a little force :-)
-
Hehe, but howadays there are slim-sized CD-R and CD-RW drives out there, so there won't be any trouble with the lack of space in the 5.25" bay area of the A4000 case anymore! ;-)
I'm sure that C= had this in mind when designing it. By the time the CD-Rom becomes popular it will be something like ~2003 and then the users could fit in those smaller CD devices in the damn 5.25" bay! :-P
-
This is what a power pc is.
-
WHAT A PITTYFULL IDEA!....
I WILL HUNT THEY BUYER DOWN!!!!!!!
GRRR
-
I wonder how much someone got it for.If it is someone here i hope they puts some pics in the gallery i could use them to do the same thing to my dodgy a4000. :-)
