Title: The real price of the name, then and now?
Post by: redrumloa on November 24, 2003, 07:38:51 PM
I remember Bill McEwen saying they paid 7 Million $ for the name, but other have commented it was less than $100,000. How much did they really pay Gateway? Seriously?

What about now? If the company gets forced into liquidation which appears highly likely, how much do you think the name will go for?

Dunno, but if it's true that Mr. McEwen bouht the name for 100000$, if there be a liquidation, i thought, that I would buy only the "A" from Amiga name myself for about 20000$.  :-D

Check old Q&A with Fleecy. Amiga name is safe.

From years now trolls say Amiga Inc is going into liquidation....... after years Amiga inc. is still here.

It was an insider-deal, and IMO both side had an interest in inflating
the (publicly known) amount.

AInc looked bigger than they were.
GateWay could minimize the loss in the Amiga-adventure in
front of their shareholders.

Lots of inventive book-keeping is and has been done in such situations.

@Ikir

Read McBill's depo, they are completly ou of money.

The only thinks that kept AInc alive in the last 2 years was the lack of
someone prepared to waste a bullet in an act of mercy :-o

However Fleecy is known for "being economical with the actualities" :-)

And please note, I'm not a "MorphOS/other fan", but I'm not an Amiga zealot either.

TBH I do not take what Fleecy says very seriously.

Well I base my opinion on public court documentation and Bill McEwen's own deposition. That's not trolling, that's taking an honest look at available evidence. If you have some information to disprove Amiga Inc's dire financial situation I'd be very happy to hear!

I have nothing to gain from AI's demise, I'm just curious to see how things play out.
