This is the second one of these I've seen in the last month.
So I thought I would bid on it early, it has now jumped!
How has he/she got an internal cd-rom in there???? Tis interesting

It's not that difficult a mod to do - in fact, there was even a guy on eBay a while back who sold all the parts you needed in one package to do it. I did it myself and it works great - though it's not as neat as that job! The main thing is a splitter cable for the IDE port and an adaptor from the laptop-style CD-ROM connector to IDE, such as this one (http://cgi.ebay.ie/Laptop-Notebook-50-PIN-JAE-CDROM-DVD-ROM-IDE-adapter-/260409315226?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item3ca19acf9a#ht_2721wt_911).

I was considering that for my black A1200 but since PCMCIA to CF card adapters are cheap and CF cards cheaper by the mnonth I decided against it. You have to cut the Amiga case. And it's a strange design to have the CD drive coming out the back.

Here's the slogan that would've driven Amiga to huge success:
AMIGA: Strange Computers for Strange People

kind of reminds me of the Minimig or w/e it is called.... port placement on 3/4 sides of the unit...
kind of doofy!

hmmm nice, I don't own a CD-ROM for my Amiga, keep bidding on PCMCIA ones one ebay WHEN they turn up.......despite the null modem and PCMCIA CF adapter I would still like to CD-ROM it....seems maybe an option?
-
Weird how it's "Commodore" Boxed - isn't that an "A.T." Amiga?
I also have one of those adapters for the Laptop CD drive, but I never got around to buying a drive. I got my adapter from maplin electronics (here in the UK) a couple of years ago.
Wasn't certain in the end I wanted to cut my case away - and with CF cards and usb and the like I'm not sure if this mod is viable any more.
I always wanted a minidisc drive in mine! (sony MD)

I did think that myself, it is an A.T, Amiga in a commodore box......I do have a DVD-R drive I ripped out a spare Dell laptop somewhere

Also one of the screenshots lower down shows 4meg of fast ram ?

I found these generic mounting trays, to mount slim cdrom drives and such:

Maybe of use for some one besides me?
