After the amazing GB gets his hands on an A1000 only the case is an A1000 anymore. He does the most outstanding work!

This is the first time I've seen this guy's page. It's all in German so I can't read it, but his work really does speak for itself. Amazing! He's a proper hacker isn't he.
It looks like he's redrawn the circuit for an A1000 in Eagle and made his own version of the motherboard as well? I loaded it up on my copy of Eagle and it looks great.

Well it's a good thing I can translate, as far as my german goes, the following is written here.
Technical data:
68 040 @ 25-40MHz usable
68 060 @ 50MHz usable
64-128 MB SDRAM
4-1-1-1 burst to 50 MHz bus clock
Clock generation of logic-controlled PLL
Matched to the motherboard GBA1000
Map size: 147 mm x 98 mm
Connection via socket 68030
68 060 requires modified IDE-ROM
Conversion to HD floppy required (high)
Notes on Development
You will need a solid expertise to build and commissioning!
Without soldering experience with SMD components and deeper knowledge of the Amiga Hardware successful development will be difficult to overcome. As a basis for circuit design is the MC68040 Designer's Handbook a valuable help.
It requires a good quality of work tools and measuring technology!
For the development and deployment tools for programming of CPLD devices are needed. To search and elimination of errors in the minimal start-up an oscilloscope and a multimeter is required. For rapid fault isolation, access to a 68-channel logic analyzer advantage.
The project is operated on their own!
I give no support for this project. Neither for component procurement, nor to build and not to commissioning. It will not answer questions on this project of mine.

An outstanding piece of work. Fastest A1000 ever?
I don't quite understand why the AIBB memory benchmark is so low, for an 060 with SDRAM. Contrast the value to an equivalently clocked CT60 card for the Atari Falcon. Of course, it depends on exactly what is being benchmarked by AIBB (eg random v sequential access etc).

This guy really is an inspiration. If he can do it, it makes me think to myself: why can't I? I'd be very interested to have a go at designing some kind of accelerator board myself, it'd be a great little project.
Georg releases all of his development work free of charge as well. You can download the schematics and PCB design into Eagle. That really is in the true spirit of a hacker.

They sold for not much more than 100 Euros (unpopulated) if I remember correctly. I had one for a few weeks before I decided it too much of a project for me.

Yep well it depends how many boards he had made but I'd imagine he shelled out a fair amount of cash on that!
100 Euros seems a fair price on a per board basis to me.

Georg never did a large production run, nor did he ever sell his boards in quantities.
The boards he designs are made Public domain, the groupbuy for 100€ was initiated by someone else then Georg.

It's not a normal A1000, as you can see it already has the hugely expanded GB1000 mainboard, which already incorporates an 68030/688882 at 50Mhz.
The exciting thing on this turboboard however is the fact that it only connects to the 68030 socket, that means it might be adaptable to fit other machines apart from the GB1000....

Yeah it would mean you could easily update an A4000 with A3630 or 3640 and then go 060 @ 50HMZ or more.

Yeah I used it for a few words too, but I guess this is pretty much the same as what the translator would do, i did that afterwards and it was almost exactly the same.
But from German > Dutch > English isn't perfect either.

Don't worry. An international crime spree was never really a consideration (he's too far away and I'd have to get a new passport).
Now if he was local...
A new GBA1000 design incorporating a 68060 would be cool.
