thanks to all ..the advise has been way helpful ..i just got a internal jaz drive with
a pc disk ..i used scsi mounter to mount it (ide fix) ..the drive comes up
but it asks for the device name..obviously to put in devs drivers ..i have currentley one 2 gig harddrive ,one dvd ,one cdrom(soon to be a writer i think)
what do i name it ? or is there specific install disks for this device?
i never used a jaz drive before ..bit lost ..
also got a external orb drive (cant find any discs yet ) it is scsi 2 i think when i get an adaptor to connect to the main scsi box can i terminate on the end of the orb drive instead of the scsi box? will it still work ok with a adaptor between the scsi1 an scsi 2 ??..
PS..is it possible to microcosm to work on a 1200 without the akiko chip? i get error message internal hardware error ..

I've actually got a 1GB Jazz drive but ive never used it. I figured CDs were just as good and much cheaper.
But I remember seeing JAZZ software on Aminet. So suggest you go there and have a look.

I used a external jaz drive with my A3000D hooked up via the external scsi port. I mounted it the same way I would mount a hard drive using HD tools in workbench. Device was SCSI.device and I set the unit number to match that on the jaz drive, which was 3.

You can use a PC DOS driver and read/write the disk, check aminet. If you format the disk in HD Toolbox it will be just like a HD. Make sure its terminated correctly. I found that Jaz drives were a bit flakey and unreliable.

If it works anything like a ZIP drive, it will help you to format and name all your JAZ disks exactly the same, so when you create a mount list for your Devs drawer, it will recognize all the JAZ disks (if you have more than one disk for it).

a "bit" ? understatement of the 199x's ... we had several jazz drives at work .... and ALL of them failed within 3 months of use.
get cd-rw... they work & cost pennies.

Wow..
I was using a Jaz as my main amiga hard drive for a while..

ok..did a search online found jaz tools ..which found the drive an asked me if i wanted to format the disk ..yah !! ..or so i thought ..apparantley its a,protected disk ..(should be protected from me after 3 days playin with this thing) a utility comes up to unprotect or format etc..but its shaded out ..cant select anything ..
1: can it be termination ? seems unlikley
2: how do u protect unprotect a disk?
3: should i just get another jaz disk from somewhere ? a blank might work?
this is a project so doing for fun ..still wanna add a ls120 floppy an orb external yet ..plus a scsi zip drive if i can find one ..call it madness ..
