Title: Scan doubling solutions?
Post by: haywirepc on May 16, 2010, 06:45:01 AM
I got the amiga to svideo adapter from amigamaniac. Since I had no spare lcd tv with svideo input, I also got an svideo to vga adapter.

Kind of a strange solution but it worked nicely. My older dell flatscreen however, was not multi-sync so it wouldn't do the productivity modes at 800x600, which is what I really wanted. Oh well, so pal high res with overscan was something like 720x400 or close to what I wanted anyhow.

Looked nice. I planned on getting an lcd flat screen tv with svideo or a better vga monitor so I could get better screen modes.

Before I got the better monitor, I think the svideo to vga adapter crapped out on me, at least I think so. Its an annoying little box from asia with a foreign 5 volt power supply but came with an adapter.

I may try and get a new 5 volt power adapter... Giggling it didn't help, and punching it didn't go anything.

Kind of frustrated, I found an amiga rgb to vga adapter, tried 4 monitors, no go on any of them.

So now do I buy another svideo to vga adapter, or will indivision for 1200 be available again soon, or do I just buy an lcd tv with svideo input?

For now, its back to 1084 and good old so low res your eyes hurt.
Can you say BIG really BIG icons?

:)

If you can learn to blink at the same rate as the screen flashes in the higher resolution modes on a standard Amiga...

...you won't notice the flicker. ;)

This is kinda pricey, but combined with a amiga monitor port-to-vga adapter, it works great on a normal LCD monitor

Does this device support all graphic modes of a Amiga 1200, been waiting
forever for Indivision to start making more Scan doublers/Flickerfixers..
Does it have a problem with tearing on some games? Looking for a
practical fix without my A1200 getting more dust. I was waiting for the
Indie AGA 1200 for so long that I bought a 1084S. It came in with problems
and now I have to work on the video sync portion (dried caps?).
I am beginning to think my Amiga 1200 is a money pit...:(

I would love to fire up my Miggy on my 47" flat screen...

Thanks,

I am still waiting for my power supply to arrive so can't speak to the 1200 screenmodes yet, but hopefully by weeks end, I can :)

I was also wondering about the external scan doubler....

I emailed Amigakit today and got this reply....   so they are coming!

"Hello, There will be a brand new production run of the A1200 Indivision in the fall with new features.  We will then have these in stock. The older version is now discontinued.
Thank you."

I would buy that if its sure to work with all 1200 screen modes. 92.00$ and you need to buy a power supply seperately? Thats odd.

It dosn't come with a power supply?

Amigakit said they would have new indivisions for 1200 in may, guess not.

Nah, it comes with a power supply. You need an adapter to plug into the amiga monitor port, to make it a VGA port. I got one from Vesalia for a few bucks.

You can use the default cable that comes with it, but monochrome only, so not so cool :)

When i get my 1200 hooked up, I'll let you know how that goes. It does fine for the 2000.

Hmmm... what new features I wonder... probably just a firmware upgrade I would assume... If the hardware was different, this would be interesting as to what hardware changes were made. Guess we'll have to wait and see since Jens doesnt post here anymore since "The Big Takeover".

You mean an amiga rgb to vga adapter? I happen to have on of those here already. I will probably buy one of these when I get some extra cash.

If I can get 800x600 productivity screen modes on my dell lcd vga monitor, I'll be so incredibly happy. Of course I'd prefer 1024x768 but I bet with overscan it may be more like 850x630 or something close to that. Good enough for most things. I wish someone would make a 1024x768 driver for these odd external scandoublers and stuff...

I would fork out for an LCD Tv with S-video. It may be a bit more money, but you also have a spare tv for your money.

I think so yeah

This is one I bought
http://www.vesalia.de/e_vgaadapter.htm
they are pretty common.

I have that plugged into the amiga monitor port, then a male to male VGA cable to the converter thingie, which then plugs into my LCD.

Has anyone thought of using a multiport vga switcher hooked to different Amiga's with the output fed into the converter, then to a single LCD monitor? Would be cool to switch from A1000, A500, etc just by hitting the button on the switcher.
