Title: A600HD IDE problems!
Post by: TjLaZer on November 23, 2003, 09:13:38 AM
Yes I won DoomMaster's A600 from eBay.  :P  It has 2.05 ROMs, and a 85MB HD attached but I cannot get it to work.  Upon further testing the scsi.device is not working, I get an error: Cannot open scsi.device.  Could the IDE controller be dead?  Or the ROMs?

Any info would be great.

Check that the ROM you have say something higher than V37.299 cause that ROM doesn't contain the scsi.device.

I have V37.350

I think the ROMs are bad or the IDE is dead.

The ROM is the best 2.05 you can get..

The IDE might indeed be dead - the driver never becomes visible if it can't find working IDE hardware (the same ROM goes for the A500 and A2x00)

How did you try it? Just hdtoolbox without any arguments?

Hold your two mouse button and check in the boot options. If de CC0: isn't displayed, you have to buy 2.05 specific ROM or upgrade to 3.1

Ok good news!  The A1200 is fine.  It was the damn HD that was dead!  I installed another Laptop HD and it now sees it just fine.  I used my old A1200 60MB Conner HD.  I am hoping I can use some 4.3Gb HDs I have laying here!

Woohoo now all I need to get is 3.1 ROMs for this puppy and some Fast RAM...  ;)
