Title: alternative PCI solutions
Post by: mantisspider on November 23, 2003, 01:49:23 AM
Hi guys,

I just been looking through the forums and cant find any talk of the Predator-SE or Predator boards.
Is noone using these boards? If people dont want Elbox's Mediator why dont they use the Predator-SE?

Does anyone here use the Predator-SE? Can it be used with any accelerator or does it have to a PPC card?

Or was this PCI expansion from eyetech never released.

The Predator is a rebadged G-rex. You can find more information about them here. (http://www.vgr.com/predator/)

(So, yes, one of these requires a blizzard ppc card to function.)

it would be nice if there were an "all in one" expansion for the "classic" Amiga's, something like an 800Mhz PPC CPU accelerator that also provided PCI and IDE.

I guess the closer you get to doing that though, the closer you get to an A1/pegasos, but it would still be really neat, and maintain OS3.9 compatibility.

I guess people will have to look for alternatives if they want to use an Algor though.

it is a shame to not upgrade the trusty A1200 who kept u warm through the winter.
But sometimes u have to let go. to keep the platform alive new systems should be bought up and developers supported.

My A1200 is begging for some PCI goodness but a voodoo3 is nothing compared to a Raedon.

Things on my shopping list:
Pegasos 1Ghz system

A1200 expansion:
Mediator PCI SX busboard
SharkPPC G4
USB expansion
Voodoo 5
Sound Blaster
Ethernet

network both systems together to sit chatting to each other :-D
