Hello All,
I have an Amiga 3000D and have decided to add a USB card.
What are the pros and cons between the Deneb and Subway?
Any bottle necks if using a subway etc?
Thanks.

Deneb is a Zorro card and is likely to give you better performance. The Subway attaches to a clockport, so in an A3000, you'll need an X-surf or Buddha to connect it at all.

Thare are no advantages to having a Subway over a Deneb at all. The Deneb will provide a superior experience no matter how you go about it.

Have a read of this thread about using a Deneb in an A3000

I still have yet to make a purchase but I think it will be a Subway.
The subway can hang off the Buddha card I have keeping my one spare zorro slot free for future expansions. Plus there seems to be a lot of problems with a Deneb in a A3000.
Thanks for the replies, most helpful.

Only problem people seem to have is getting ZIII mode to work in an A3000. PIO is plenty fast though. Subway = USB1.1 and Deneb = USB2.0.

I was lucky enough to pick up and A4000D with a Deneb card inside and I'm amazed at how well (and how fast) it is.
The difference between USB 1.1 (Subway) and the USB 2.0 of Deneb is massive. If you're planning on using your USB for mice and keyboards only, then you'll be fine, but using flash drives or external USB hard drives or CD drives and you'll suffer...
I have to say that the Deneb would have to be one of the best cards ever produced for the Amiga. It really opens up a whole new world of connectivity. Of course the excellent Posiedon USB stack is a big part of it too...
Cheers,
Mike.
P.S. I also have an A3000D which I might try the Deneb in, just for fun! :-)

Moreover, you get those 4 MB of flashrom for free and the Deneb is the only card to provide realtime ISO support, which means you can use USB Audio and USB Video, which the Subway cannot.
