Talking with a guy at work who is shortly retiring. Just had to pass this along. He has the 3rd pre-production model of Amiga 1000 that was shown at Comdex. It has EEPROMs instead of ROM chips, as they were still tinkering with the ROMs. Also, he said it contained kickstart 0.9.
I'm hyperventilating.

Absolutely no pics of this machine. It's in a barn. I'm trying to get a 3000 of his.

Yeah I may have to get pictures of this thing. He said that it has the boing ball icon instead of the checkmark logo. I really at least either need to see this thing in person, or get some pictures.

So the story goes that when Yahoo was first trying out its ebay-like auctions, there was an auction for a "Amiga 1000". He bought the computer and monitor for $60.

If I had the chance of going to his place and picking up a 1200 and one or two 3000s i'd be one happy amiga'er. I only got a chance to mess around with my 1200 a little bit, and couldnt ever use the 4000 (no scan doubler) so now its at my storage unit.

I would love to get a dump of the roms(eproms) and a copy of the Kickstart/Workbench set that he has. I wonder if its older than the current 'oldest' version of Kickstart/Workbench that has been archived?
