Title: How to Save Text File in WB?
Post by: Super TWiT on April 22, 2010, 01:56:58 PM
Hey, this seems like a really stupid question, but I was wondering how to save a text file. I have the contents in the more program, but how do I save this file. I just recently have started using amiga. Also, does anyone know where some basic workbench tutorials are?

"ed" should let you view, edit and save text files.

Which version of the OS are you using?

Older versions come with Ed, 3.5 - 3.9 come with EditPad, and 4.0+ come with NotePad.

I have workbench 3.1, and ed worked, but I can't seem to see the file it saved becasue there is no corresponding .info file.

There's an option in one of the dropdowns when you're browsing a folder to Show all files instead of just icons, that's a handy one.

Is there anyway I can create the icon, as other people are going to use this disk.

Use IconEdit.
Or copy an existing .info file.
Or load the file into Multiview and save it under a different name. Multiview will create an icon.
Or use an editor which allows to create an icon (CygnusEd for example).
Or use another program which has a function to create an icon for a file (Directory Opus for example).
