Title: Prelude soundcard problem (solved)
Post by: aggro_mix on April 20, 2010, 09:56:46 AM
Just recently got a Prelude ZII soundcard that won't work properly.

It shows up in early start up menu and gets reported by all the different "system inspection" tools but then I try to use it the computer starts to crawl and then hangs.

I tried the PreludeReset tool from http://prelude.act-net.com/softindexe.html and it finds the card but reports a time out error when doing the reset.

I've tried the card in A3000 with Mediator, A3000 with original daughter board and A4000 with Elbox A4000 Bussboard with the same results.

Any ideas? Is it possible to repair?

try to re-seat the big Cristal IC along the 4 socketed PALs. (or ask to a generic technician to do so)

Actually it worked!!!! Thanks alot :) I'm so happy now!

All I did was to take out and clean the socketed chips.

Maybe there's hope for my CV64 as well, not many socketed chips on that though....

Thanks again!
