I've got a 1.2 gig hard disk in my aged A2000 which has started giving me the error message:
'Error validating WORK
Block 195297392 out of range'
This message appeared after I had tried to correct a checksum error using Disksalv. I have tried to "Validate" the drive and "Repair" the drive with Disksalv but to no avail. Any suggestions please?

Mate, it's trying to tell you something.
I wonder what?

I`ve had several error messages like that after trying to repair a HD with DiskSalv..
The quickest fix is to backup everything on the bad partition, format the partition and restore the backup.
Also, ditch FFS and use another filesystem such as SFS or PFS. Since moving to SFS, I haven`t had any drive errors.

This is how it often works! You may get first "block used twice" error. When validated again, you may get "out of range" error and after a new attempt it may finally be OK. And sometimes Disksalv may even crash during operation. The worst disk fault I had years ago was finally repaired on the fifth attempt I think. That's why I keep my backups fresh, it's much easier to make a 15 min backup session than use hours to fix crashed partitions.

Thanks guys, you're the best! I did a back up of all essential stuff and reformatted the drive. Everything is now okay. I have also discovered soooo much more space on my HD now that all the crap has been deleted! So a double thanks is in order!
