Title: End of Amiga Format - Were to now?

As I have recently finished reading the final issues of Amiga Format and was wondering what Amiga magazines were available from the year 2000 that had similar content. I particularly liked the tutorials, game reviews and the new Worbench coverage for classic Amigas. Any suggestions?

There is also the Amiga Format Group AFB who have a massive membership even though they don`t post anything these days...

They are a great read. The discs are very very useful.

Sorry.. I have never sold anything as the whole lot is going into a museum eventually.

CU Amiga was undoubtedly the best Amiga magazine ever.

In fact I bought my first amiga, an A500 as a cheap way to play games, just after Commodore went bankrupt, which meant 100's of Amiga's for sale, real cheap.

The first Amiga mag I bought was the AF with Real 3D V1.4 as a cover cd. The article on 3D rendering fascinated me. It ran on that A500, and I let render the demo candlescene over night.

I was hooked, the games fell by the wayside. I started buying CU with Image FX, Imagine Wordworth. I also bought Australian and Commodore Review magazine (which BTW are available for free download somewhere). The tutes in these magazines inspired me to use my cover apps. Then came a GVP hard drive with 3 meg ram. Then an A1200,with a Cobra 40 mhz '030, then an Apollo '040 @ 33 mhz overclocked to 40 mhz. Then I got Photogenics, ImageFx2 off cover discs, ended up buying Photogenics 2, Image Fx 3, Turboprint, Umax Scanner, NEC 3D multisync. The cover cd's meant I ended up with a PC CD and hard drive minitower with an IDE lead snaking from the side of the A1200. The Cinema 4D came out on a cover cd, I ended up buying Cinema 4d V4. But all of these apps really needed a graphics card, so I eventually stumped up for an A4000, Cyberstorm 68060, with CV 64 and 17" Sony trinitron. None of this woulda happened if i didn't buy that first AF with Real 3D 1.4 on the cover, i'm sure I'm not the only one similarly affected!

Post by: Amiga_Nut on April 12, 2010, 01:34:37 AM: I agree, UK magazine CU Amiga was pretty much the same as AF and just as good so if you liked AF you'll love CU Amiga. Aaaaaaand...CU goes all the way back to the VIC/PET days too so not a single bit of Amiga goodness was ever missed.

Also ST/Amiga Format was great too for early days.

CU Amiga is scanned completely nowadays so no need to wait for ebay collections etc if you don't want to.

Amiga Power was always good for a laugh, but the style got a little irritating.

Amiga Shopper was a good serious magazine, well written. Amiga Power was a bit incendiary with Stuart Campbell....who couldn't even take criticism about how much of a mistake Cannon Fodder 2 was compared to the nicely balanced playability of its prequel.

For games I used to read C+VG in the mid 80s myself, I thought they had the best exclusives for Amiga/ST games at a time when most UK households couldn't even afford a C64 and disk drive let alone a 520ST/A1000 to play games on.
