Title: What software might you want for MorphOS 1.5?
Post by: iamaboringperson on November 20, 2003, 06:32:43 AM
(Or MOS Vx.x)

I would want a web browser, email program, and office utils as minimum.

(And compilers, text-editors are essential!)

:-)

Papyrus-Office is already in beta, and should be available "real soon now"(tm).

A light version is probraly gonna end in the Superbundle.

I am no geek. What i want is a system with the iMac concept, i.e. a system with internet-capabilities and programs for a SoHo environment where i can do sme work to be exchanged with what I do at work.

An small list:

-a fully comaptible (like Firebird) browser with full JavaScript and Java

- an email program like TheBat! 2 , i.e. highly customizable with templates etc. and PGP

- a full Office suite like OpenOffice

- a chat program similar to Trillian Pro 2.0 (i.e. featuring almost any protocol, skinnable, easy to use)

- a musicplayer like WinAMP

- Kaazaa, BitTorrent clients

- Palm Desktop or similar for full syncing

- a video/DVD-player with support for all sort of codecs, and i want these codecs too

- an image manipulation program for working on pics from a digital cam / from the scanner ( I am not even saying compatible with photoshop-plugins)

- a vector-based praphics program

- a fully skinnable OS that allows changing of every aspect of what is seen on the screen, including icons in 32-bit. And that the applications use these icons as well!

- memory protection. i don not want my whole system crash when one single app does

I do not say that one or the other isn't already possible. But to buy a new system, this is the minimum to come home.

Of course, this applies to OS4 as well...

Have fun,
McTrinsic

IBrowse or Voyager in the future, I hope ...
Java is really harder to have ...

If you want a WinAmp like there is AmigaAmp (www.amigaamp.de). But there are also many others like AmiNetRAdio, SongPlayer, Kaya ...

There is already MPlayer available and Frogger.

FxPaint, ImageFx ...

MorphOS does that since the first version I had in August 2002 with my beta 1 Pegasos.
Now, there are more skin, and there are easier to handle.

Wait until the Q-Box arrived, may be a long time ...
Anyway, I'm using MorphOs daily and it's stable.
I just made a selection of buggy software which I don't use anymore.

Installer (from aminet) just works.
Devtools: the SDK is easy to install and to it job: it compiles

That would be cool for OS4 too. Though, either way, I would hope it would be improved.
