For the amiga, which was your fave game developer ?
There were a lot of great companies but the one that stands out in my mind is Team 17. I know a lot of people like to hate on them, but the Alien Breed series alone is worth it to me.
-
Bar owner Andy Davidson.
-
Psygnosis, DMA design, Gremlin Graphics and Blue Byte to name a few.
-
I know a lot of people like to hate on [Team 17]...
???
On what planet do people hate Team 17? They're the pinnacle of excellence.
-
I grew up in Germany in the 80s, so the obvious choice is Rainbow Arts and especially the famous Chris Hülsbeck. But I also have a lot of respect for Jim Sachs and the Psygnosis guys that did Shadow Of The Beast.
-
A lot of them....but Magnetic Scrolls comes to mind. Team 17 games are excellent. MicroProse published excellent games.
-
Ocean and Infogrames. (I don't remember if the games were good, but those were the logos I most fondly remember. I must have liked their games.)
-
I always liked the Magnetic Fields logo blasting onto screen :D
-
Bitmap brothers.
-
Mine has to be Geoff Crammond. I have many happy memories playing Grand Prix with my Granddad on his A600.

I typed this before, but apparently I didn't click "post". D'oh! ;-)
I'd say David Jones.
Menace, Blood Money AND Lemmings!
Fun!!!
I even forgive him for the 3D GTA thing that people seem to like for some reason..

Pity you asked about game developers, otherwise I'd have said Carl Sassenrath.
As it is, probably Team17 as a "first among equals" with Bullfrog, Psygnosis and Bitmap Brothers.
-
It must have been Sid Meyer.
-
I'll have to say Bitmap Bros. too. But Psygnosis and Team 17 are right up there too.
-
Manfred Trenz? Not really an Amiga developer though, at least not for the game series he was most famous for, Turrican. I've always liked the games from Thalion too: high quality games that were unfortunately very underrated.
-
Psygnosis, Ocean, Gremlin, Digital Illusions and Team 17
-
I owe a sizeable portion of my childhood to David Braben's Frontier Elite. Another chunk went to Sid Meir's Civilisation, and still another chunk went to Sensible Software's Cannon Fodder!
-
Kenta Cho and Pixel (of Cave Story fame), although their games have been ported to Amiga and not been directly programmed on them.
-
FTL who made Dungeon Master; arguably the best game in its genre.
And yes David Braben's Elite I played for many years on the Speccy and the Amiga.
Whoever was responsible for Populous is worth a mention.
And who cannot forget LucasArts and the Monkey Island games; a classic series of games that are still very much playable thanks to their depth and longevity, excellent humour and engrossing story.
PS: Eye of the Beholder was rubbish in comparison.

Silmarils and Vulcan

My favorite - Cinemaware for making Wings, Three Stooges and Defender of the Crown... I never ever get tired of those classics!
Also honorable mentions to:
Micropose for Pirates!
Psygnosis for Awesome and The Killing Game Show
Interplay for Bard's Tale - I played many, many hours on that one...
Infocom for all their great Text Adventures
-
Blue Byte ( Settlers ) and Thalion.
And who made Dune2 BTW ? That was great too.
And Wing Commander (only CD32 Version) was cool)
-
Dune 2 was Westwood Studios, personally I preferred the first one. Inspired me enough to go and rent a video of the movie which was also good. Odd to see Sting in a film. O.o
So many, Might and Magic I, II and III I played to death.
I spent hours playing SSI's AD&D games; eg. Champions of Krynn, Death Knights of Krynn and a zillion others.
Sierra Online produced some quite amazing games on the Amiga.
Captive from Mindscape was a gem, unique gameplay, fun bouncing the balls of the walls, lovely map designs, unlimited levels I believe as well. I always remember struggling to work out how to open the first frigging door/portal.
My favourite RPGs have always been on the Amiga never really got in the PC gaming scene, did playable Ultima Online once many years ago. For the last 5 years I've been playing a turn-based strategy game in a similar vein to all the great AD&D games mentioned above. Its called Dofus, subscription is dirt cheap about £6 a month. Probably the best online game fantasy game available on the Mac unless you have a large wallet and love 3d games like the almighty World of Warcraft. - tbh Mac isn't exactly spoilt for choice when it comes to online games.

Well if I only have to say one ill say Digital Illusions. Im Swedish you know ;)
-
I'll have to say Bitmap Bros. too. But Psygnosis and Team 17 are right up there too.
+1
-
Bullfrog for Populous, Geoff Crammond for Stunt Track Racer etc..., Cinemaware for Wings, and whoever did super stardust, and oh yeah I gotta mention Breathless, luv'd it
man just mentioning this stuff makes me want to go home and play some of my old Amiga Games
Electronic Arts for Powerdrome and (I think they did Indianapolis 500) I always thought indy 500 was very impressive

EA might have been a distributor on Indianapolis 500, but it was the first of a very long chain of severely excellent driving simulations written by Papyrus Software. A developer I miss greatly. (Though some of the team and source code lives on with First and iRacing.)
Anyhow, again, +1 to Bullfrog, Team 17, Psygnosis, Geoff Crammond, and Digital Illusions. All legendary status on Amiga.
-
Sid Meyer... Colonization, love that game.
Also Dune and Dune II actually Dune II inspired me to read the books, watchs the movies, get the comic... I played Dune II so much, that I at one point could complete the game in about 7 hours, no matter what "race"
-
Delphine Software (Eric Chahi)
Another World is one of my all time favorites.
-
Bill Budge (Pinball construction set), Tony Suzuki (Star Blazer), John Romero, Richard Garriot and Jordan Mechner. I guess I really like all the original one man band game programmers.
Specifically for the Amiga, I'd have to say I had a lot of respect for the Bitmap Brothers.
-
James Conwell (Total Chaos). I arrived late on the Amiga scene and well, uh, he's still with us while the others sought greener pastures elsewhere.
-
I'm not sure they count as they might not be exclsuvly Amiga but mine were Peter Molyneux, Ian Bell (for Elite but I don't know if he actually did anything for the Amiga version) and of course who could forget David Braben - just reading his interviews with his really epic ideas for space games was facsinating to me.
Sid Meire too must be mentinioned again (I see he has already) for what he's done for gaming right through to this day, just looked at his list of games he's worked on - amazing!

my favourite 'is' Simone Bevilacqua (saimo) he creator of BOH and also glUAE. These 2 programs have made my Amiga experince that much more enjoyable:D:drink:t
