Title: Looking for the name of a game from 1991-ish.
Post by: Thrantor on April 01, 2010, 03:49:36 PM
I played the demo of it while at college and have been interested in it recently since I don't remember any games quite like it since.

It's a scifi strategy/sim game where you start out on earth with pretty much modern technology and you really aren't given a goal other than "explore the universe" (or so my ancient memory says).

From the very beginning you have the ability to send start ships to anywhere
in the known universe but you'll be using normal rocket power to get there and it'll take forever. You can do research to try to explore the solar system. You can mine asteroids and other planets for materials.

But once you get to around jupiter or so, you piss off another race that comes and kicks your ass.

Since it was on a friends amiga, I didn't get to play much further than this bit. But I'd love to know what the name of the game is.

What game is this?

It sounds like Milennium 2.2. Jupiter and mining the asteroids is what tweaked my memory. Were the Aliens called Methanoids?

There was also a sequel called Deuteros.

5 mins after the topic was posted I was going to guess Millenium 2.2  BUT it said "you start out on earth".  In Millenium 2.2 you start out on the moon.

Since it seems we are allowed to guess any scifi game I will guess
another great game: Colonial Conquest II.

Found it later in the day. It was the wacky logo that finally did it for me.

It was Deuteros. I've since started into amiga emulation and am working on trying to get my mac able to play it.

Thanks for the information.
