Title: amiga 500 largest hard drive question

due to lack funds (bills bills ) i have been putting together my old  a500 ..added the 030 mega midget racer ..harddrive external scsi an even got the dvd rom to work with it ..however i cannot seem to get the amiga to format the drive to its full 9 gig ..i used supradrive software to format to 1 gig ..
anyone know of a shareware program to get the 500 to format to 9 gig ??
what is the largest drive a 500 would be able to use??

Here is a thread that discusses hard drives.   Does not cover A500 per se but it does cover some limitations with some filing systems.  I have recently formatted a 2.5" 60gig hard drive for my A1200 using Smart File System (SFS.lha v1.277) and Hard Disk Install Tool (HDinst.lha v6.9) in 4g-25g-26g partitions.
