Title: A4000 doesn't recognize my IDE DVD-ROM
Post by: Phantom on March 26, 2010, 08:48:33 AM
I upgraded my HD to a SCSI one, so the only IDE device active is my DVD-ROM.

But A4000 refuses to recognize it, and when the IDE device selected as Master, I got a System Activity error on DH0 at startup. :(

When I had two IDE devices (one HD and the DVD-ROM) everything was ok.

Do I have to change something in the settings? Any ideas?

Is it just connected to the onboard IDE ?

Just a guess... try setting the jumper pin to master on the DVD.

edit: Oh you did.

Try editing the boot priorities.

Do you have another cd drive to try?  Try an older one.

Maybe it's not possible to use an ATAPI device alone, perhaps the amiga doesn't like it, so you may need a hard drive on there as a master anyway (like a silent CF perhaps)?  Then your IDEFix to enable the use of the dvd-rom.

Use a non-bootable HD on the IDE chain. I know it is a lousy solution, but may helps the boot problem.

Also rise the boot priority of the boot partition from zero to +1~4 (+5 will override the floppy drive).
