Hi all. I have just found my boxed AB3D game by Team 17, and was looking forward to playing it again after 10 years of it being hidden away! But it does not work. It loads up OK, and freezes up as soon as it's finished loading and the game starts. I also can't install to my HD as the installer crashes my machine. My machine is an A1200, Apollo 060/50, 64MB, Mediator.
Is this an easy fix?
Thanks

Strange, it worked fine on my old 68040 (also an apollo card), the 060 shouldn't be that much different (save superscalar execution and some additional mmu hacks that can speed up chip ram access).
I would suggest you try using WHDLoad. In case you aren't familiar, this is a system that allows many games that were originally floppy-only to be installed to a hard disk, but includes installers and fixes for many games that could be installed, AB3D included, if I am not mistaken. IIRC, it patches the game too, so that you can cleanly exit back to workbench when you are finished playing.
You can obtain WHDLoad here: http://www.whdload.de/ (http://www.whdload.de/). You should be able to find an installer for the game there.

WHDload Installer for AB3D here: http://www.whdload.de/games/AlienBreed3D.html (http://www.whdload.de/games/AlienBreed3D.html)

WHDload version od AB3D works fine here on mediator/Apollo 1260 setup.

Can confirm too that WHDLoad and HD-installed versions both work on Blizzard 1260.

WHDLoad version works fine on CS060MK3 too.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I did look at WHDload, and found the installer for AB3D, but at the moment I can't access the internet using the Amiga, that is another problem. I will post that question else where on here. I just don't get it though, why this fails as soon as the game starts, but Turrican II runs 100% perfect.
