I was looking at the bulky phone books (nice to have if the internet goes down) and wondering... why don't they replace them with an iphone sized device and drop off a flash card once a year.
I'd like to have them at least downloadable so I can peruse them in page form.

Who still has phone books delivered. What a waste of resources

Sorry to disagree with you, mate.
But once you spoilt your eyes by looking at monitors for decades you'll know what I mean...

Hi Dandy
I have spent decades looking at monitor. I also notice you are from Kóln. I just got back from working there again. Must say really love the place.

Phonebooks used to be great up until a few years ago. While still useful, now they're crap with not-so-easy on the eyes fonts that are tiny and printed on incredibly thin paper.
Many uses abound for 'em though. They autonomously send them here in the States still and I've sometimes immediately relegated them to the recycling bin. lol These days, I use them to prop things up (have one under a chinsey DVD player and an Amiga monitor so my GF can play her exercise videos), use em as a buffer for something that involves a hammering project, sometimes use the innards for packing peoples wares and they're also good for propping up a shelf that bowing in our pantry. lmao

Phone books still exist?

Even in Europe... just received a couple of pages out of a book from France the other day as a matter of fact. lol Guy used it to aid in packaging.
