Hi all! I'm almost done configuring the classic side of my Amiga the way I want it to. There is one last thing missing though: a good anim5/anim7 player! Ofcourse I've read every thread on this and other sites, and tried out every program from the last 20 years on Aminet, but I cant find one that does what I want:
-correct framerate playback
-promotion to cybergraphx
-IF POSSIBLE, playback in a window
-IF POSSIBLE, support for iff24/ham8
a few programs came close: viewtek is the only one capable of using the correct framerate it seems, but does not want to play on cybergraphx. animinwindow plays ehm in a window, but is rather slow and corrupts my Workbench colours. animcommander, bdanim, animfx, xanim.. they all have different reasons for not being much good for me. The ANIM datatype from OS3.9 works but as soon as I press play in the Multiview window, the system locks up.
I've used Viewtek back in the days so would really like to use it, but how do I get it to run under CGX? Using the SCREENMODE "BVisionPPC:8Bit 1024 x 768" parameter results in a suspend/reboot crash.

Have you tried to use ModePro for screen promotion?
-
yeah in fact I did. Just one of the players listed could be promoted, and even that didnt work: it rapidly kept playing the first 2 frames.
I'm amazed, how are people playing ANIM files under CyberGraphX? Surely there must be a way..

"The ANIM datatype from OS3.9 works but as soon as I press play in the Multiview window, the system locks up"
My first answer to your question was: "Why doesn't he use MultiView?" There must be something strange with your setup - Multiview play ANIMs fine here on CyberGrafX and Picasso96.
-
Support for IFF24, are you sure ?! I don't remember there being an anim format that used 24 bits.

For instance with this;
http://aminet.net/gfx/show/CyberAnim13.lha - but HAM gives corrupt colours AFAIR.

I would love to use multiview, but it just wont play ball. using standard OS3.9 multiview and standard OS3.9 ANIM datatype. Do you remember replacing either?

In my experience, Multiview doesn't play animations back very smoothly. Maybe that's just my setup though. I prefer AnimCommander, even though it's got a few glitches of its own.

Agreed about Multiview speed.

it doesnt read the correct framerate from the file :(

José
then I dont know what format this anim uses, but at least it only shows correct in 1 or 2 animplayers.

Interesting, what are the players that show it correctly ?
Don't have my Amiga systems at hand to try but I think it's probably HAM8.
