Right, my AmigaOneXE-G4 should be here soon and I've now got my Linux plan sorted out.
What I'd like to know is what software would you reconmemnd for OS4.0 out of the following categories.
Spec by the way for the AmigaOne is: 800mhz G4, 512mb ram, 80gb ATA133/7200rpm hd, 4gb hd (for Linux), Ricoh CD-RW, CD-ROM, Voodoo 4500 64mb AGP card, AC97 audio (on-board for now), Dynalink serial modem.
List of catergories I'd like software for:-
1: Games - Flight sim
2: Games - FPS
3: Image processing software
4: Animation (2D)
5: Animation (3D)
6: Sound - tracker
7: Sound - midi sequencer
8: Word processor
9: Spreadsheet
10: A good compiler (C + Java)
My Budget is £1000 for software.
TIA.

I agree with the first responder, save for the wordprocessor part...
If you can find a copy of FinalWriter97 it's good. I haven't used
WordsWorth7, but if WW4 is any indication--it's sure to be pretty
good.

Isn't any list of suggested programs for OS4 a bit premature?
Most of these will prolly run under OS4, but we don't know for sure until OS4 is done and in our (the consumers) hands.
I wowuld hold onto your money and scour the web to see what comments are said AFTER OS4 hits the streets.

I like final writer a lot. The Amiga versions a lot more comfortable than the pc version, and has grammer checking and stuff that the pc version dosn't have. I wrote an entire novel in it. I only started using Word on the pc for some final editing since the spell checking is a little more accurate.
