So, nearly 80 and I thought, if I don't go retro to my Amiga days, I never will! Having got an A1200, and in possesion of a TFS monitor I am wondering if threr is a way to connect the Amiga 9 pin female socket to the modern 15 pin male on the monitor. Help...
John
Got that the wrong way round - ought to know difference to male and female by now! Amiga male socket of course and monitor male..

You can get a 9 pin to 15 pin adapter. They are very easy to obtain and are very inexpensive. Here's one I found on eBay.

But for the A1200 are you not looking for the 23 pin to 15 pin adapter? The video out on the standard A1200 is 23 pin. There are 23 pin to 15 pin adpaters that you can get. They are more pricey. Amigakit sell them, look here

or if you want to go for an up to date solution to conenct current monitors to the A1200 have a look at the Indivision AGA, pricey and you need to open your A1200 to fit it, but it supports monern monitors and gives you access to a much wider range of screen resolutions.

Thanks for the info. I checked the site and found the adaptor - not too pricey but the feedback on this indicates I would need a (very)expensive flicker fixer, internal fixing. The monitor I have is a Dell about 4 years old synchro 56/75 vertical 31/80 horizontal so the flicker fixer wemms to be required. Perhaps I should be content with teh RF/TV connection .
John
seems - not wemms. Can't find any wemms nowadays...

You could try using the Multiscan, DblPal, DblNTSC, Euro72, Super 72 monitor drivers in Devs/Monitors or if not Storage/Monitors. You say the horizontal scan rate is 31/80. Although these drivers only go as high as just over 29, I have had some success in getting them to work with an old CRT with a min horizontal frequency of 31.
If no joy you could try and source an old CRT like the Microvitec/Amiga 1438 monitor. They work perfect with AGA Amiga's but they are hard to find. Have a look on eBay and Amibay.
Or if you are happy to go with the TV option, go for a SCART connector. It offers higher quality than the RF jack. You can find these on eBay or at Amigakit:

Remember that with a cheap Sync Dongle 23-pin VGA adapter (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=183) you won't be able to play the majority of games and non Workbench applications.
For those you need a Scandoubler instead and they retail at about €100 however you'll not be able to find a new one as A1200 versions are no longer in production.

@ Alexh so what's this then?

Those are still out of stock everywhere, it seems, though there are supposed to be more showing up someday.
If the original poster is in the US, I can offer an Amiga-compatible 15khz monitor (1084) in good shape at a low price.

HI to all and thanks for the advice. Have managed to source an old Amiga monitor so that should be the answer. Hopefully...
