PrBOOM won! Really?!

I didn't realize that many people were playing it, perhaps I should get my ass in gear and finish up my Star Wars project then...

So where's the links to these great games anyhow?

Huh, The only game on that list that I recognize is BOH.  I didn't even know the others existed at all.  I wonder where I go to find about checking out these 68k games.  Are they free or is there a cost for them?  If anyone knows I would be appreciative.

WOW, still no links...

And you know what's sad, the majority of these games are just ports, though you'd be amazed at what can be done with PrBOOM. Nothing compared to GzDOOM of course, but amazing stuff none the less.

Anyhow, I found a link to those Zelda games which...

...don't seem to be in english. Woohoo. :/

PrBOOM for OS 4 can be found here (will this run on MorphOS as well, and does it support OpenGL?):

I voted for BOH for Aros, which I play on my laptop through Icaros all the time :)

I think it would be nice in future if there were links to each of the games on the voting list, some of the games there I didn't know about or couldn't find on Aminet. I hope we can all make lots more games to fill the voting for the next Amiga Games Award contest, maybe with our Retro Remix Game Making Competition.

Simone : do you plan to port BOH to AmigaOS 68k or MorphOS ?

It would be nice, but the hard truth is that it isn't possible. The reasons are explained in the following Qs/As taken from the website FAQ page (http://www.bohthegame.com/faq.html):

***

Q16: Can you port BOH to this OS/machine?
A: The game already runs on 5 different OSes. At the moment, no further ports are planned.
Also, please keep in mind that:
 * I do not own all the OSes/machines that exist on Earth;
 * I do not have room for more machines;
 * I do not have money for more machines;
 * maintaining more versions would be too demanding;
 * commercially it would make little sense.

Q18: Can you port BOH to classic Amiga machines?
A: Getting classic CPUs and chipsets to run the game acceptably (and still with a noticeable loss of quality) would require a complete and specific implementation from scratch. And, like for handhelds, maintenance would be a nightmare. So, sorry, it is not possible.
Please note that it has been reported that expanded classic Amigas running AmigaOS 4 are able to run the game decently.

***

I've been asked to port BOH to various platforms many times, but there's only so much I can do. Moreover, I can't stick forever to BOH, since that doesn't provide me with a living.

Thanks for providing the link (:)), but that actually points to just a little interview on an otherwise unrelated site. BOH's official website is at http://www.bohthegame.com (where, among other things, much more interesting interviews can be found) ;)

Thanks, and I'm very happy you're enjoying the game!

On another note: I see your copy is still wrapped up in cellophane... great to see BOH in the hands of users! :)

Heya Saimo, I'm happy to be enjoying it :D I guess I like the collectable feel of it still being shrink wrapped, and I guess since the game was available to download once I purchased it online, I have been playing it since the day I paid for it, even before the packaged disc arrived. I think that's a great method of distribution, and I can still download and install each update you release which keeps the game interesting for much longer.

No wonder it came first, BOH is a great game, we're very lucky to have it! Plus it was the first commercial Aros game, so I just had to get it to enjoy on my laptop.

At least 68k version could be tested on OS4. I dont think real Amiga users matter there but it would give chance for MorphOS and WinUAE users to try. I honestly didnt know about BOH until now...

These and more games for 68x can be downloaded from http://artishq.wordpress.com/.
Note there were made for Amithlon/WinUAE.

I don't think you guys looked very hard for those Zelda games, they've been on Aminet since they've been out.

http://aminet.net/package/game/role/ZeldaOLB-68k-US
http://aminet.net/package/game/role/ZeldaROTH-68k-US
http://aminet.net/package/game/role/ZeldaROTHCoop-68k-US

But that page posted by artur has them all and more anyway.

Anyone who hasn't played BOH because they don't have an OS4 machine should know they can play the game natively on their Windows PC without needing a UAE port of the game. There's no way it would run well even on a 060/RTG Amiga, so porting it to 68k just so it can only be played in WinUAE is kind of pointless, since the game runs natively on Windows and Linux, as well as Aros which is easy as pie to install if you download the Icaros Live DVD. Then you'd have a modern AmigaOS on your PC, and you could download the demo of BOH and try it.

Has anybody tested the Zelda games on a Amiga 1200 or 4000? Curious to see if they would run on a real amiga accelerated with an 030 or better... If someone tests them please post results here... My stuff is packed away at the moment....

Saimo, sorry I only proof read the link I provided and didn't realize I was off base.
 I don't even own it yet, though it sounds like you've coverted Cammy into a sort of crack head for the game so perhaps I'm going to have to check it out and see what all the hypes about. :)

As Cammy kindly pointed out, BOH is not just for AmigaOS and AROS, but it runs also on Linux, MacOS and Windows, so pretty much everydody should be able to try it. Also, maybe there's a chance it runs with OS4Emu on MorphOS - I've already asked a couple of times, but nobody ever reported anything.

I honestly didnt know about BOH until now...

That's surprising (but none of your fault, of course), because there are countless threads and news items on Amiga sites about BOH: just think that since the original release (~10 months ago) I've released also lots of other stuff (9 updates, 10 additional missions, 4 additional themes and 3 additional translations, to be precise), which has been presented to the community by means of press releases here, on AW.net and on Amigans.net (just to mention the "official" threads).

Well, since the game is new to you and to others here, here (http://www.bohthegame.com/downloads/trailer.wmv) is a quick way to have a glance at it: a little trailer I released yesterday ;)

Well, you don't strictly have to wait: just head to the DOWNLOADS page (http://www.bohthegame.com/downloads.html) of the website and get the demo suitable for your current OS ;)
Have fun!

Really a classic amiga cant do it? Payback on 060 exist, with all my respect, these nextgen amiga games cant compete with all time games for amiga.

Only that PayBack doesn't do/have full screen interpolated rotations, 24-bit graphics, 8-bit alphachannel, (basic) ray-tracing, 24-bit lighting with virtually unlimited light sources, 7 audio channels with dynamically controlled volume - BOH is more demanding than the low resolution might suggest at first ;)

I won't question your personal preferences and it's totally OK with me if you prefer any other game over BOH. Though, let me ask: did you try BOH's demo?

BTW, just to be clear: I love old stuff (in fact, BOH is prominently retro)!
