Okay, I've just about given up finding a SCSI controller for my A2000 with the necessary software to install a decent hard drive and am looking at the Buddha Flash Phoenix over at Amigakit.
Would anyone care to comment? Please???
Oh, by the way, yes I used to have an A3000, but it just wasn't working for what I had planned and the 2000 will perfectly. Just have to lose a little more desk space for the larger box.

I had asked this exact question about two months ago but didn't get a reply. Hopefully you'll have better luck.

I've got one in my A2000 & there is nothing bad to say about it at all.
Plug & play, no software required, can control up to 4 IDE devices at once, even sees ZIP drives at boot...it's great!
The only problem I had was at installation when there was no picture to indicate which way it went in. PM me when yours arrives & I'll take a pic for you :)

Which OS are you running? I'm going to be using 2.04.
As far as orientation, I would assume component side goes toward the power supply. That is the usual convention.

I'm using 3.1 but just checked & it will work with 1.3 onwards, so you'll be fine.

It's hiding in there pretty much directly under the support rod.

Ok, not a very good pic...but as you can see, the IDE ports & power connection are on the "PSU side", as in, they face toward the PSU.

Yep, they followed conventional wisdom. components towards the power supply. Don't know how/why manufacturers do it that way, but the majority of them do. Does make things a littler easier when fitting things if quarters are tight, which they usually are!
Got it ordered last night. Should be here in time for next weekend and playtime!

I use a Buddha Flash Phoenix in my A2000 I have no problems whatsoever. The card is fairly fast at about 2.5mb a second. I use an old 2.1 gig hard drive I had lying around. It does work with 2.04 because that's what I first had in there. I then moved to 3.1 ROMS and my A2000 has OS 3.5 on it. The card worked with 2.1, 3.0, 3.1 and now 3.5 you shouldn't have a problem with the card. Just make certain that you install it correctly. The software that comes with it is IDE-Fix97 and it only works with this card. It was a good purchase.

Yeah? I've watched several GVP HC8+ boards on eBay over the last few months go incredibly cheap. Arguably the best SCSI card for an unaccelerated A2000 and lots and lots were made.

That was one thing I was wondering about. My A2000 had an 040 PP&S card and a A2091 SCSI card installed. The A2091 couldn't communicate with the 040 via DMA or some such problem, and therefore hard-drive transfer rates were abysmal. I upgraded the ROM on board the A2091 and then bought a GURU ROM, and this improved the situation somewhat.
But if the Buddha can't DMA to accelerator card RAM at all over the Zorro II bus, then that's going to mean pretty slow transfer rates, no? PIO mode on the A2000 was very bad with the A2091 as I recall (something like 50Kb per second or similar when I last experienced it).
