Hi everybody,
i'm an old/new amiga user, i bought same time ago a blizzard ppc 200-04/25 and now it's time to change the 040 with the "new" 060 (the 060 at that time has been my greatest dream).
My question is:
when i have to flash the bios, Before change the cpu or After?
In this site say before:
http://www.g-mb.de/P5Rework.html
In this site say after:
http://translate.google.fr/translate?u=http://obligement.free.fr/articles/blizzard040060.php&sl=fr&tl=en&hl=fr&ie=UTF-8
so i'm confused, could someone plese tell me for sure if i have to flash before or after the rework?
Many many thanks.
sorry for my bad english.

Do the CPU swap first then upgrade the BIOS
-
Ok, many thanks ZeBeeDee!
So:
1. Change CPU
2. Chage 68K Selector to 060
3. Change Voltage Selector to 3.3v
4. In my case leave the 040 50MHz oscillator(should be perfect for my new 060 50Mhz)
5. Flash with the 060 bios.
For flash have i to boot from floppy?
Which is the last 060 flash file i have to use?
Thanks.

Delshay is the man with the answers to your remaining questions. he knows more about the PPC's than anyone else on here IMHO :)

I did it!!!!!!!!!
060 running under my Amiga!!!!!!!
The hardest thing was unsold the 040 pins under the memory slot especially the last in the corner.
A dubt: the flashing process taken about 30 seconds instead 30 minutes (i readed in the various sites) but everithig seems to be ok, it's normal?
Thank to everybody for the help.

type in a shell
version blizppc.device
if you get v 44.71, is successfully updated.

it did only 30secs because the 060 was initialized as cpu, if all went ok, there is no problem.
I just prefer to flash the upgraded card being disabled by pressing the key 2 when starting the amiga, and then flash with /force parameter, this flashing just takes some minutes(because 020 is running the process) , because in some cards the 060 can't be initialized with 040 firmware, and when the ppc part is overclocked its possible that the card will not be properly recognized and the flashing will stop.

welldone
it shows you a very skilled with a soldering iron.
removing 040 is not a easy task, also when soldering in the CPU or socket don`t over do it with solder,as solder can leak to the other side of the PCB and somethimes cause S/C.
